But this doesn't mean the individual schools won't send you stuff once they know you exist. It might be good to discuss this with your family...

My mom and brother haven't been allowed to touch the mailbox for a very long time.

If your family won't follow your wishes, another thing you could do is rent a mailbox at a local post office. You don't have to bother changing your address on your applications. Just have the post office forward your mail to your personal mailbox.
