Hi all,

My final semester of undergrad is coming up and I signed up for advanced microbio. I have already taken general microbio but the advanced course sounds interesting and ties in with my current research project. However, adding this class has put me at 17 credit hours and I will be taking it along with biochem I, A&P II, and vertebrate embryology with lab. Will taking advanced microbio provide any advantage in dental school or does general microbio cover the information that comes up in dental school?

Save your GPA and don't take it.

I'll take it for my first week of classes then reconsider it if there is too much work. The content looks too interesting for me to drop it right now

It definitely helps but only for microbiology....only take the course if you actually would enjoy it.

If you are already accepted somewhere, then feel free to take it if you really want to. But keep in mind that this is your last semester to take courses outside of dentistry that really interest you. Once you start dental school you are not going to have that opportunity anymore.
