Dilemma...
I'm applying to medical school having flunked one course in undergrad, ten years ago. I missed the deadline for the final paper and received an F as a result. This is my only failing grade, and I'm concerned adcoms are going to assume the F is the result of an academic dishonesty hearing (as though I'd been caught cheating and therefore failed). I imagine my alma mater keeps records of cheating, and I could have them draft a letter stating that I have no such record. Would this help my application by alleviating doubt, or does the letter just draw more attention to a bad grade? As an older applicant, my Personal Statement is going to involve a theme of maturing after college, leading to high performance in grad school, years later. Should I explain the grade somewhere in the PS or elsewhere in the application? I imagine it might come up in the interview, and I wonder if it would be worth explaining it in advance.
Thanks for your help...
