i can't find the official acceptance thread.
does anyone planning to go to Case?
i can't decide...because i really didn't like cleveland
any thoughts?

what are your other options?

Sbosu - are you going to case??

looks like we're in the exact same situation, i got accepted to PITT and Case as well, with OSU being the #1 but it just didn't pan out (interviewed, but waitlisted)...actually looks like we interviewed on the same November date at OSU lol our cycles look extremely similar

have you made a decision abt where you're going? i literally have no idea at this point...

I'm from cleveland and honestly I really like it. Unless you absolutely hate cold weather (for a few months) I think it is a great place to live. Dont get me wrong there is a lot of bad areas (alot) but there are also a lot of great areas as well. Plus we have great sports teams (maybe not great but the games are extremely fun anyway, minus the cavaliers who are great, ), if you enjoy water sports theres the lake, the summers are good, and the fall is also great. Honestly I dont think you'll have that much time to get away from school but I think there is plenty to keep you occupied. Plus the cost of living is on the lower end. I may be biased because I have never lived anywhere else, but thats just my opinion.

i am okay with the cold weather. the thing is when i took a train from the airport to the school, i wasn't impressed with the scenery, what i saw outside of the window from the train...and people on the train wasn't friendly at all (no offense but that was my first impression). it was quite different from what i used to see...

is there apartments or a place for rent near the school?
thanks!

Just wondering that since you live in cleveland, which are some pretty safe cities/places to live near the school? Cleveland heights, shaker heights, little italy, mayfield heights, university heights, etc? Out of those, which would you recommend based solely on safety and which one would you least recommend?

"Does anyone going to Case Western"?

That's ghetto-speak

there are apartments around case. if you want u could live in 'luxury' (note the quotation) for 1000+ $ a month but that is really considered EXPENSIVe in cleveland. but it only takes like 5 mins to walk to dent school..

i live in a very nice apartment a couple of min drive to case.. for half that price. but usually around case area... apartments are pretty old and bad. no insulation and heating bills will go up to 300+$ when the weather is so cold. (places like little italy) plus the rent is pretty expensive too. so you should find some place that gives you heating for free. but most apartments / houses that are converted into apartments are not insulated... hear everything your neighbor is saying... etc.

which city do you live in? and where do you park because I heard theres a huge waiting list for the parking place in the basement

well i'm an undergrad. i was able to find parking on the street. but the thing is i would think that'll be impossible for dent school cuz the max time is 4 hours. you could park at veal, (the sports center) but you would have to walk. but yeah the basement parking that connects right to dental school is full .. at least thats what i heard. from other ppl. i live in cleveland heights. case is right on the border of cleveland and cleveland hts so its not that bad of a drive. cleveland hts at least where i live is only 10 mins to school... but u do have to take in to consideration for the snow.. (like today.... the snow piled up 1/2 ft and the roads are still bad.... have to go 25mph prolly) hah

but dont' get me wrong... case is a very good school. i would have gone if it was in ... lets say.. cali. or something i was accepted but decided to elsewhere because i hated the weather... cleaning the snow off my windshield and being cold during winter... and that the city is pretty dead.
