I was escorting 10 Russian diplomats on a treaty inspection of some of our nuclear facilities. Normally, I would arrange to get an Air-Force KC-135 short-notice to fly us to the destination they pick. KC-135s cost roughly $8,000/hr wet (airborne hours) and if they are on the ground for more then 24 hours, there is a large cost associated with that as well. To save US Taxpayers over $40,000 on a scheduled trip to upstate NY, I did rapid-fire travel planning for 16 total people on a commercial airliner there and back to include van transportation one-way from Albany-Rome-Syracuse.
This method of travel had never been accomplished in over 20 years of treaty operation and was an outside-the-box and aggressive approach to an archaic and expensive problem.

I think if you are fishing for some options, look at some hurdles you have overcome with school, your application, your job, or even your family. Undoubtedly, several of those hurdles involved some creativity on your part to solve.
Also, another place to "search" would some of your ECAs, especially if you were in a leadership position.
Maybe you could use this thread as an example of how you used creativity to solve a problem! 🙂
