The thought of getting my JD after pharmacy school has crossed my mind a few times, but now that I think about it, I have no clue what a pharmacy lawyer really does. All I know is that you are not allowed to practice pharmacy and that it is supposedly where the big $$ is.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this career?

The guy who taught the Kaplan Florida law review got his JD after pharmacy school. He represents pharmacists when they go before the board.

A classmate of mine went to law school after he graduated with us. I think he still maintains a current pharmacist license, so he could practice if he wanted.

He specializes in malpractice law & does bodily injury secondary to drug cases.

I should have gone to Law school straight out of pharmacy school. I would have made a great Tort Lawyer bringing up class action suits against pharmaceutical companies!!!

You can work for big pharma in the patent department I believe, or in malpractice. But one thing to keep in mind is that in malpractice you might be selling your sole sorta depending. I tried to research this some but there was not alot of information out there about it. I did read several times that for law it makes a difference which school you go to.

I know two pharm lawyers who have a firm together in NJ-- they do VERY well. I also have a friend who just graduated pharmD and is going to law school in the fall. It seems like a great option if you have an interest in law. There is alot of work out there for pharm lawyers, at least in NJ

I worked with an RPh/JD before...why would having a JD affect being able to practice in a pharmacy?

Anyways, 6/8 years of undergrad/pharmacy school and then going for 3 more years of mundane drivel and paperwork and mindless gunners should make you eligible to make tons and tons of money. You can teach pharmacy law/write pharm law books, represent pharmacists, lobby for pharmacy organizations, work for the man/pharmaceutical companies...

I remember speaking to a lady who got her JD after PharmD and now works for malpractice insurance company. I briefly considered getting a JD and working as a patent lawyer (it's actually fascinating, to see them in action), but it takes more nerve cells than I have to spare. But it's amusing that things that are "oh, that filing is very aggressive!" to us are "nah, it's just textbook phrases, rather mild" to them. 😀
