What are the lowest MCAT scores accepted in a medical school in history? Does anyone know?
thank you (worried, havn't taken an MCAT yet)

I've heard of a 19 for allopathic, 17 or 18 for osteopathic.

wow!! I 've heard they don't take anything below 30.

30 is what you should try to get.... Look at the MSAR... it gives you a range of the mcat scores accepted and some are hell-a low!!!

Hahah yeah there have been many miracle stories(from what I've seen on SDN). I've heard of quite a few with 24 MCATs being admitted...and one story with either a 19 or 20 being admitted to an allopathic medical school.

I guess those people had fairy fly giving them luck. There are no miracles in the reality. only to those in legacy. Is MCAT hard or soft?

are you trying to break the record?

I know a 22 who got in. I've heard from my local Kaplan rep that someone got in with a 21 at my state school, though that may be urban legend...

Well if you don't get at least into the mid twenties, consider yourself basically screwed and in need of a miracle from God himself. Upper twenties and you've got a shot, but still in this game there are no guarantees.

I think the 2006-2007 MSAR is pretty clear on pg. 27. Chart 5-E gives the number of applicants accepted with a specific MCAT score. For Y2004 "the number of accepted applicants with total scores of 17 and below (an average of 6 on each section) was about 45." MSAR 2006-2007. Looking at the chart you can estimate that about 250 people were accepted with a total score of 22, about 500 with a 24, and about 1000 with a 26. However, for the same scores roughly 1000 were NOT accepted with a 22, about 1300-1400 were not with a 24, and almost 1500 not accepted with a 26.

I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about how low you can go and still get in. I think most pre-med kids, if they put in the time with a review course and/or studying on their own with practice tests, can hit the mid-20s which puts you in the "possible" range. If you're smart and a good testtaker, you should be able to hit into the "good chance" range. No reason to worry about how bad your score might be until you actually take it and get 17🙂

My cousin had a 21. However, she had a 4.0 GPA and exceptional LORs/ECs.

Not trying to break any records or anything because I don’t want to lose my favorite jazz song disk. Osteopathic and allopathic are different branches of medicine? What is LOR’s and EC’s?
