The broad concepts, how the pathways intertwine, etc. are so cool...

But who wants to memorize everything to the point of recalling the only chiral intermediate in B-oxidation of long chain FA's? So much epic don't care...
 
Yes its my major, I also enjoy orgo a lot. The smaller parts show you why everything works the way it works. It shows you the beauty of the molecular structure.

ditto. organic chemistry, biochemistry, whatever... the beauty is in the details.
 
I loved photosynthesis in cell bio but hated it when I got to biochem. Cellular respiration, on the other hand, is the ****.

A bit off topic, but do you need to have taken bio to take biochem?
 
It's not a prereq for chemistry biochem at my school, I don't believe.
