Does anyone think Exam Krackers verbal is a lot harder than Kaplan?

Hello,

I'm taking Kaplan but using EK verbal right now to supplement. I'm finding that EK verbal (the 1001 quesiton book, specifically) is a ton harder than the stuff I've done through Kaplan (practice tests and the diagnostic). Anyone have the same opinion? I haven't done actual AAMC practice stuff yet. How does EK and Kaplan compare? I thought Kaplan was MUCH easier than EK.

Thanks,

T

I used ExamKrackers, but honestly, I don't think it matters if one is easier or not. The real AAMC tests are the best practice for the MCAT.

You know, I took Kaplan in undergrad and I don't think it helped nearly as much as Examkrackers. EK was infinitely better. But it definitely helps to go to their classes and they're only available in the northeast i think (I lived in Philadelphia when I took them). But I agree--AAMC material is always the best anyway.

who cares! study the aamc exams as your primary indicator. the mcat is a test taking skillz exam more than anything else...and thats why you wnat to get used to the aamc exam more than anything else.

EK helped me MUCH MUCH more than Kaplan. This is in reference to the verbal and the science sections. I can't recommend EK highly enough.

Agreed. 👍

I personally think that taking the Examkrackers diagnostic tests is the best way to get ready for the real thing. It's harder then the real thing and you will eventually score 2-3 points higher on the real thing, (1 score higher on each section) but I it's sure nice to study on your own and not waste your time going to classes with a bunch of nerds who analyze every word in the passage. And that includes the science sections as well. The best way to study for the MCAT, at least in my opinion, is to study for it and not to talk about it and know how other people are preparing for it. There is no best way to read a passage and imitating someone who did well on the MCAT can maybe hurt you depending on the way you trained your mind to work.

I used Kaplan material when I studied for the April 2004 test. I could do the Kaplan problems. However the test was much different. For me, Kaplan oversimplified the science problems and made the verbal more complicated than necessary. The actual test was much harder.

Now, I'm using Exam Krackers (and plan to use the AAMC exams too) and I feel that the EK questions are a lot harder, but the questions are similar to the MCAT.
