ever read up on medical diagnoses/ treatment plans in their spare time and get overwhelmed by the complexity of content? I want to attribute this to just not having the knowledge yet but sometimes I feel like medicine is too complex and I won't be able to keep up if I get into med school. Maybe I'm just neurotic? Anyone else feel this way?

That’s why medical school is 4 years and even then, you are still aren’t qualified to practice anything without at least a 3 year residency.

So I’ll just have to get comfortable with the feeling of not really knowing much for a while...?

If it makes you feel better, we are all just specks of dust hurtling towards inevitability on a doomed rock.

But honestly, the content you read up on is the culmination of dozens if not hundreds of people spending their lives studying and developing treatments. Medicine is complex. No doctor understands everything, or most things. That is why there are specialties (and text books). You are definitely neurotic...but that's more common than not in med students anyway. Focus on getting in, that's the hard part.

Med schools are VERY good at selecting applicants who can make it. IF you get in you will be able to do everything required of you. Sure it will be tough, but it’s doable.
Right now you don’t have enough information and training to understand what you are looking at. It’s like someone who hasn’t taken algebra yet to solve calculus equations. You’ve got to build up the knowledge base.
