Good luck and congrats to those of you doing interviews, it's very exciting to hope that I'll be where you are this time next year!! Anyway, a dumb question, but do all medical schools conduct interviews? In other words, is it a given that I'd have to interview at every potential school or have people been accepted after secondaries w/o an interview? Thanks!

I've never heard of anyone being accepted to any American medical school without an interview. But even if that were possible, wouldn't you *want* to see the place where you're about to unload up to a quarter of a million dollars to study over the next four years? That's an awfully big investment to make sight unseen!

The only school I have ever seen indicate that not everyone interviews is the DO school Michigan State Univ Coll of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). They state on their web site that many applicants are admitted without an interview though they do interview a subset. Other than that, I have never heard of a medical school admitting someone without an interview. Honestly, though, with their OOS tuition being $70 K/year I doubt they get many applicants that would have to travel far. And, yes, I sure would want to see the campus where I'd be spending four years and a quarter of a million dollars. 🙂

I have a good friend who will start at MSU COM after being accepted without an interview. He is In-state, fyi.

In keeping with what Q said, he of course extensively checked out the campus(es) anyways on his own.
