Does anyone know what happens to your financial aid if you transfer
to another college mid-year (going to new school in the spring)? Does it come with you automatically? Do you need to reapply? Is it possible to apply for just spring semester? Thanks in advance!

Nothing automatic will happen, and most likely nothing will happen at all. The school you're leaving disbursed funds to you after a long, long process that resulted in that school being given the funds to disburse. Switching mid-year isn't what they expect you to do at all.

Start talking to everybody NOW. That means your old school, your new school, your lender, and probably the FAFSA people. They'll want months to untangle this, even though you probably just have a few weeks.

Best of luck to you.

Yeah that's what I thought, thanks DrMidlife.

Just to give a bit more background, my situation is this:
I am a non-trad premed and currently attend UMass Boston but am planing to transfer to Harvard Extension School to complete my degree. The main reason being is that HES offers ALL of their classes at night. This is crucial for me since I am a mom that is juggling family, work and school. UMBs science classes are spread out throughout the week on multiple days during the day and it's just not doable for me until my daughter is in school (1 yr from now) Anyway, in order to get in to the degree program at HES yu have to pass 3 of their classes ith a B+ or better and ofcourse they are not covered by financial aid. I am taking one of their classes concurrently with my UMB classes in the spring and plan to take 2 more in the fall, but i'm trying to figure out the most financially feasible way to do that. I plan on paying for the fall HES classes with my excess check from this spring, but don't know what to do about the spring. Asuming I withdraw from UMB at the end of the spring and pay for the fall at HES, is it possible to apply for financial aid JUST for the spring semester? and would I get it in time to begin classes? OR do I stay at UMB, reapply for financial aid, take classes in the fall at both schools, save that excess check for the spring at HES and withdraw from UMB at the end of fall semster? Sorry for the blabbing 😀
Thanks so much in advance!
