hey everyone
I always had this concern on the back of my head... I got my B.S from a NON U.S university in air-space eng. I have a 23/20/22 but despite my good performance on DAT I got 4 rejection letter out of 20 schools that I applied stating that your GPA can not be converted and basically ur B.S isnt that acceptable😕 now I havent received any interview so far and Im begining to worry . should I apply to more schools ? I submitted my app on June 1st applied to 20 schools so far got rejected from
Indiana, ADSOH, UCSF, UNLV!!!!!
thanks in advance!!!!
good luck:xf:

1. Are you an international student?
2. What is your break down of the DAT, RC score specifically?
3. What does your extracurricular activities include?

My EC includes lots of charity activities inside and outside of the united states I have 250 hours of shadowing a general dentist and I am a Swim instructor at a Pamona(CA) community

answering your question; yes Definitely! IMO, that is the reason for UCSF rejection. You have excellent DAT. what is your GPA?

Hey Danny
Thanks for the reply.
My GPA in US is 3.5 and my SGPA is 3.65. I took all the courses in college though. anyway I found it so stupid for some schools like UCSF to prefer a U.S B.S in ART over a NON U.S B.S in Air-Space eng and hard core classes! I know some kick-asssss smart people from my country( and I mean people with 25+ on their DAT) here that got rejected for the same reason (and what a loss for them) , for me get in to 4-year school back home (IRAN ) was way harder and educational system is not a bit simmilar to U.S (it was hard to get good grades and it didnt matter ) so I guess I should have gotten my B.S in art and I would be in a better situation.
anyway, I was hoping more for UCLA and I know they accept iran's degree, my firend got in to med school last year and I think they made a smart choice to choose her.

Had you spent a little time perusing the information available regarding admission requirements for UCSF you would have noticed that you do not meet all of their requirements for admission. Instead of writing disparaging remarks about the school, you would be better served by working towards meeting their basic requirements for admission. There is no guarantee that a "kick-asssss smart" applicant with a degree in aerospace engineering would do better in ds/dentistry than one with BA in Art.

First of all, most people dont get their Bachelor of Science in Art, they usually get their Bachelor of Arts in Art. Also, I have never heard of somebody applying to dental school with their (only) major being art. Please be more educated about the American system before you start rediculing it.

Some schools also tend to favor international applicants because schools are always trying to increase their diversity. I am guessing there is something else about your application that called for your rejection. In addition, UCSF only takes around 10-15 out of state applicants to begin, in which case you need extremely competitive stats (3.5 is good, but not extraordinary).

In all honesty, they probably want you to be a US citizen as well. I don't know much about this situation, but I would think (and hope) that they don't want you to just come to the US (because it was easier to get into than your country, as you previously stated), get your degree, and take it back to your country. We have American's to train.

I got a interview from UCSF although i received my BS degree from Dept. of Biochemistry in non us university.
