It gets old when you don't know what you're doing, like me.bbllplya said:does dentistry get boring after a while of practicing? are there still cases that make your day somewhat exciting? i'd hope so b/c id rather be doing dent than sitting behind a desk for the next 30yrs of my life...wat do u think.
If you've already decided that you'd rather be a drill jockey than a desk jockey...bbllplya said:does dentistry get boring after a while of practicing? are there still cases that make your day somewhat exciting? i'd hope so b/c id rather be doing dent than sitting behind a desk for the next 30yrs of my life...wat do u think.
Your question kinda answers itself.

Well, my experience is extremely limited, but already I have a strong sense that it won't get boring. Although the procedures may be the same, how the goal is achieved will be different.
It's like playing the same golf course every day, except for the fact that the weather changes, your club selection changes, and the hold changes position every day. The scenery is the same, but you're always looking at it in a different manner. That's what a wise SDN dentist once said.

I think any job can get old. One of the reasons I went into OMS is because it seemed like less of a "job" and seemed like I would deal with more interesting stuff. I thought that would keep my attention. It's amazing how it used to be exciting to get up in the middle of the night for some big face crunch. But that got old real quick.

Yeah especially when it involves a lot of pretty girls 🙂 well there are lot of patients really so you wont really get bored. Hey I have a question? how do you deal with denture odors... 😉

keep smelling them until your nose is desensitized!Aquillan said:Hey I have a question? how do you deal with denture odors... 😉
I keep mine in vinegar when I'm not wearing them. You don't even notice the old odors, & it tastes great besides.Zurik5 said:Don't make them.
...oh, you meant other people's dentures?

Gross.

Anything can get old after time. Variety in your practice can help keep things from getting dull, but ultimately, I guess, it's dependent on you -- your personality, your staff and co-workers, the kinds of patients you accept, etc.
