I am curious if anyone had been rejected by LECOM (Erie or Bradenton), or do they just waitlist everyone that they don't accept. 🙂

I think so🙂 I got wait listed there too, which I thought was pretty funny considering I really disliked the school and by the time I received their 'alternate' notice I already had accepts at PCOM, NYCOM and UMDNJ-SOM.

LECOM doesn't put everyone who's not accepted on the waitlist, I know of several who got denials. I haven't heard of too many who've made it off the waitlist to get accepted in the past few years however. But who knows? If you have anything else to send, updated transcripts or new LORs, that may help. Good luck.

Does anyone have any actual info or experience being pulled off the witlist for LECOM? If you do please share or if you have a friend or a classmate who has experience with the waitlist. I am on the waitlist for LECOM-Bradenton and I am really hoping to get into LECOM-Bradenton. Any info would be great.

There are a handful of people in my class who got pulled off the waitlist a few days before classes were going to start.

I myself got pulled off the waitlist at WVSOM - two days before their classes were going to start - but I told them no because I didn't like the school and would rather apply again. Stupid me, I would have been almost finished with my internship year if I had said yes... 🙄

im a second year at lecom erie, and i have two friends who interviewed in mid-late april, were waitlisted, and both got in. one of them was even told there were no spots available when he interviewd. lecom, like most schools, does wait list a lot of people, just because of the nature of the process. i know a lot of people who get accepted at one place, but are waitlisted at their first choice, and end up pulling their acceptances at the last minute. so a school has to waitlist a lot of people, because they dont always know if their acceptances are a done deal. my one friend got called during orientation and was told that someone came to orientation and decided med school wasn't for her, and if he wanted in, class started in 2 days, and he'd better get his butt to erie. 🙂

LECOM is VERY desperate for applicants b/c no one wants to wear a tie to class and put up with their military-institution like rules. LECOM lacks color and doesn't have a well established reputation... so YES a LOT of people will lose their $1500 deposits to go to any other DO school BESIDES LECOM and it will turn to the people on the waitlist

Sounds like someone just got rejected! Sounds like you haven't done your research...wouldn't want to be one of your patients with that kind of attitude

What's your deal Tams? All of your posts on sdn are all about rippin on LECOM...I think it's about time someone told you to shut up! Go get laid or something and stop dissing LECOM!

I know several people in my class who paid the $1500 deposit at LECOM and then forfeited it when they got in elsewhere. That says a lot to me about the impression LECOM gives to people. LECOM is widely known to be the least desirable of all the osteopathic schools to go to. I can't imagine putting up with that insane dress code, no food in the lecture halls, and mandatory attendance. Not to mention the ugly building. Oh, and I've heard great stories on SDN about the family that runs LECOM. Absolutely ridiculous.

The only reason LECOM gets away with this is because there are people who are desperate enough to get into medical school that they will put up with that crap. I'm sure LECOM has no problem filling their class - it's just that they fill it with the bottom of the pool of applicants who have nowhere else to go.

LECOM produces great doctors, and I'm not commenting on the quality of their education. I just think it's crazy that they expect people to put up with being treated like children while they go $150K in debt for it.

Just a few things to add...and I attend LECOM and am VERY happy here.

1. losing $1500 is not bad compared to the $2000 I lost at UHS-COM

2. Dress code...do you actually think that you'll be able to wear scrubs 24/7 when you are on rotations? Good luck with that b/c you are going to be moaning and complaing about dressing up for office hours!

3. Mandatory attendance...HELLO! LDP students choose that pathway...if I didn't like the attandance policy I would have applied to PBL or ISP

4. The family that runs LECOM...is one of the most generous, caring families I know...they care about their patients, their students, their school, and their community.

5. The building...at least I don't have to worry about my computer and books getting soaked with coffee and pop when it runs down lecture hall floor...

6. Getting treated like children...those that act like children get treated like children...just like when you are on rotations and someone tattles to the attending...

one day i will realize that trying to defend my school is a losing battle and stop posting on these ridiculous threads. but i can't help it, because it drives me crazy when people bash the school whose name will be on my diploma! c'mon, the only people who have a right to complain about a school are students who have actually gone there, not some pre-medder who has no freaking clue whats important (the education is important, not the architecture of the building, dumba$$). not to mention, the things that tams and ponte-claret complain about are not even specific to lecom! (not to mention, they're not anywhere near the truth).

we're not the only school with a dress code, we're not the only school with mandatory attendance, we're not the only school with rules pertaining to cleanliness, and i actually love the building (what a dumb thing to complain about!!) and the ferrettis, while slightly eccentric, have the best interests of the school and their students at heart, trust me. and i have never been treated like a child. at lecom you can pick your pathway, pick were you want to do your rotations, and ultimately, pick what you want to do with your life. and we're certainly not the "worst" school! there are other schools with lower entrance scores, and other schools with lower board scores. but all of that is irrelevent in the long run anyway- good students succeed no matter where they go. so whats the deal, haters??

spyyder, i know this has run away from the intent of your original post, but i can't bare to think of someone thinking horrible things about a great school! i hope you get off the waitlist, and i hope you accept!

anyone who has questions about lecom can ALWAYS PM me, and i will answer them. and i will not exxagerate like some of these posters looooove to do! 🙄

ps whats up viper? 😎
