I am applying to MD and DO schools upon receiving my MCAT scores.
What are your thoughts on the school list below ( I only posted MD). I do understand some schools are much more of a stretch than others, however I think they are still within reach... I do understand my GPA and potentially MCAT scores (yet to receive, see below) may be slightly low, however I think MD route is very obtainable.
I've posted some of my background below.
undergrad cGPA 3.59 sGPA 3.62
(I was scoring 29-32 on AAMC practice tests and I felt good about actual test) For the sake of this discussion, and to be conservative, I am assuming 29.
White male from CO
Hundreds of hours volunteering at MUSC ER, American Cancer society Hope Lodge
Organic Chemistry tutor at College of Charleston for 2 years
Implemented a tutoring program for local middle school students
Student research assistant at MUSC's Clinical Neurobiology Lab
Conducted Genotype work for drug research on Naltrexone at the same lab
Medical mission trip to impoverished village in Belize
Tons of shadowing/ observing surgeries/ trauma surgeries etc
International student mentor for foreign grad student studying immunology at the Medical U of SC
I still have a lot of research to do on these schools but your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
