Can anyone offer an opinion as to whether working as a research nurse or research nursing would look good to an admissions committee? I don't work as one, but I'm aware of such a thing, and I was wondering if it would be worth pursuing IOT impress the ADCOM... thoughts?

are you already a nurse and thinking just changing depts would help the app? or are you talking about getting a nursing degree to do this to impress the adcom?

Already a nurse--I know institutional medicine privately considers nursing academia to be a dog and pony show, and therefore it would be unwise to pursue it if I weren't already a nurse. [We do like to reach for the low-hanging fruit on this forum, unfortunately, to the detriment of all questions beyond "How does grade replacement work"...]

I would however entertain a job change--even with a pay cut--if it would translate into an experience that an admissions committee would find impressive-r.
