Does pathology have a chance?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Contrast this with Canada, where the pathology job market is EXTREMELY favorable. In ontario, a path gets an average salary of 330k and there are openings almost everywhere. In NFLD, there are talks of increasing pathology pay to 350k in order to attract more people to that province, and to the field in general.

Can a US citizen practice pathology in Canada? Would you have to pay income taxes to both Canada and the US?

yes and yes. Ontario only (in all likelihood)... Have a look at healthforceontario.ca or .com, something like that

What? WHAT??? If I choose to work in Canada, I would have to pay US AND Canadian taxes? WTF?

You know -- I swear the pathologists are the smartest and yet most insane group of medical people I've seen on these forums...

For one thing, earmuff talked about Ontario. While Ontario may be the most frequently referenced province in cross-border discussions, it is still not Canada.
For another, the issue of cross-border tax laws combined with immigration and real estate are really too complicated to have answered in one post, for free, on an Internet forum.

But yes yes, go berserk already... the Canadian lurkers who are paranoid you'd steal a job are tittering, so you have served your purpose.
