Nah man it doesn't affect ventilation. Wheezing is from inflammation of small airways (bronchioles). PE affects perfusion.

A quick google search shows that PE can cause wheezing. Remember that a clot is metabolically active. Wheezing can be seen, especially in more severe cases.
