Does pre matriculation accomplishment count in residency applications?

I'm sure this will be a "dumb" question to some/many of you, but i'm curious.....

Basically when i glance through these forums i read a lot about doing research/publishing in med school being helpful in applying to moderately to intensely competitive residencies. Well, do residency programs consider work you might have completed before you started med school or are they mainly interested in things done during med school? the reason I ask is that I have published once first author in an immunology journal and might be getting onto a paper 2nd author, but i'm still working on that......

i really have no idea what field i'm interested in going into yet (and i'll take my sweet @ss time deciding 😉), but i was just wondering.

Yes, research and work experience done before med school counts. You put it in eras or on your general cv.

yep definitely include it - especially since it was medically related.
