So I did research at a university during high school for 2.5 years. I stopped only because of college.

I wanted to take a break from research so I kind of stopped, but i got back into it last year

I was wondering if I could include my research experience in high school

Can't hurt to throw it in as an activity to show your interest in research started in high school. But your college experiences are more important.

My gut instinct based on what I've read in SDN is to say no. But maybe if you include a blurb about how you wanted to take a break from research because you did so much in high school, it could be more acceptable? IDK

I did the same thing but for 2 years. I wouldn't put it down as research experience because I don't think my role was important enough (or will be considered important enough because no one seems to care about high school after high school) plus I had two projects in that time. The first was dead so I had to get into another. I think I would mention it in an application as what got me interested in research, though (since I'll be applying MD/PhD).

If you continue it in college, you can mention that research in high school got your interested, but schools will probably primarily look at your college research.
