When applying to Pharmacy school, does it really matter if you went to a top ranked school like UT Austin or Michigan..i heard that as long as you graduate from an accredited pharmacy school school you'll be fine and get a job anywhere, some say that going to a better school like Austin is actually bad choice because its gona be way harder and tougher on you and you don't really need it later on so might was well go to the easier school? i would appreciate if anyone could elaborate on that!?!🙄

From what I understand pharmacy schools are not ranked and either way you are a pharmacist. BUT I say the school DOES matter for other various reasons like what type of program do they have, policies, what current students have to say about it, or even what type of specialties they might have as part of the curriculum (for example some are very research oriented, some offer nuclear courses, some have a high rate of residency...etc) SO basically it just matters to find the best fit for your wants and needs as a student.

I'm not in pharmacy school but I've just read a LOT on SDN about it. 🙂

Depends on what you plan on going after graduation, high ranked schools allow for better placements into fellowships and such. If you plan on doing retail or hospital, probably not.

If you want to do research, then I would consider the research prowess of the school as not all schools are equal. If you plan to do just the grind at a Wags or CVS, then it doesn't matter as much.

Accreditation of pharmacy school involves a standard set of courses. So, school matters when comparing the subtle differences such as media, faculty, electives, etc.

Job placement has a lot to do with performance and less to do with GPA unless you are going for a residency afterwards. You might consider alumni connections at each school.

are the higher ranked schools THAT much harder than the sumwhat lower ranked schools?
and also: what type of pharmacist makes the highest annual salary..would retail like CVS be one of the lowest?
