know how far you had to go on your ranklist to match with them? e.g. if you ranked a program #5 on your ROL and matched with them but had told them you would rank them #1 do they ever find out?

p.s. this aint autobiographical, just curious!

Simple answer. No.

thanks Andy! Is there a more complicated answer? Congrats on your amazing match, you deserve it and hope you are having/had fun in Vegas!

Ditto Andy. No, not unless you tell them.

*Unless* you spill your ROL to someone who spills it to someone in the program...but I doubt one applicant's ROL is really important enough to gossip about.

1. Programs DO find out where you did match if you didn't match with them. 2 program directors at other programs (besides the Brigham) emailed me to congratulate me. More proof that they know where you ended up.
2. The program where you matched only know that you matched with them; they have no clue whether they were your #1 or not.
3. You will never know where you were ranked by the program where you matched (unless they tell you).

P.S. Thanks scootad. It's a great feeling to know that this phase in my life is over.

I received an email from a PD at a program that I didn't match wtih congratulating me on matching to THE WRONG PROGRAM (he said congrats on State U and I matched at City Private). Very weird...

And yes, I know where I really matched. The PD at City Private emailed me.

Oh, and Andy, I know one of your co-interns at B&W. He's a pretty nice guy and VERY sharp.

Fantastic! Is he going into pathology as well?

Congrats to you too for matching at Duke. 👍
