Does the test really take 4.5 hours?

I'm wondering if you have to wait in between tests like if you're done with the sciences in 45 minutes, instead of an 1.5 hours, and don't want to go over any of your answers do you just sit and wait for the time to expire or can you move onto PAT?

You can hit next and move on to PAT. But why would you NOT want to go over marked questions since science section is the heart of DAT.

I'm sure I'll get frustrated with some questions and have to come back to them, but I was just curious.

I was actually wondering a similar thing...how come when you register and make your appointment at Prometric, it says the duration is 5.5 hours? I know we only get like a 15 minute break, so what are we doing for that extra hour?

I actually had the same question a while back about the testing session being allocated 5.5 hours. I know that there is roughly 25-30 minutes at the beginning that is the tutorial where most people set up their scratch paper. You could also just skip through it since you should be familiar with all of the directions for the sections already, and begin your test right away.

So that is 30 mins + 15 mins break, and then +10-15 mins at the very end for your survey. Along with the 4.5 hours for the test that is the whole block.

I think there is a tutorial at the begining and a survey at the end that should some how fill up the extra 1 hr.. but I havnt takent the DAT yet. so dnt quote me on that😉

I think hardly anyone fills out the survey at the end. Everyone including me, probably selects random answers and clicks next as many times as possible to get to the real deal, the scores!

So "setting up scratch paper"...does that mean we can write down all the formulas and facts we squished into our brains right before we got there? 😛

The minute you walk into the test room and you have that 15 minute tutorial, you can write down on your scrap paper.

The test will take 4.5 hours max. If you finish the sections early you can move on immediately. You also don't have to take the 15 minute break if you don't want to. For me, I finished every section but QR early, but I took the extra time left over to just relax a bit. If you want to get out early, though, you can just move on. Also, if you use topscore the tutorial isnt necessary because the layout of topscore and the real DAT is very similiar.

It takes 5.5 hours because we have to do a few things there like signing up, getting our thumbprints taken, and there is a tutorial at the beginning (don't waste time in it for more than 2 mins).

Make sure your comp is working fine during the tutorial.
There is a survey at the end of the test (15 questions) right before your scores come up. So don't expect your scores to pop up after you finish QR section, just click randomly through the 15 questions fast 😉.

I might be clicking randomly through the last 25 questions depending on how QR goes

hahahahaha 👍
Reminds me of my last question: I clicked a random answer in the last 8 seconds I had left to answer that question and then "Time finished" thing popped up but I could still see the question. So I sat there for a while solving the answer to see if I got it right.

From my experience with Topscore/Achiever I've learned that if the problem looks like it might take a while or if you don't know it right away that should you guess on it, mark it, and come back to it later. If you don't do that you could end up throwing some easy points away depending on what the remaining problems are.
