For the year leading up to starting med school, I worked as a clinical research coordinator. Aside from that, I’ve done nothing research related and I’m not sure I have much interested in pursuing traditional bench research now or anytime in my career. I’m wondering how this clinical research experience will look on my residency application? Is this in the same realm as the other standard research gigs? For context, I’m not seeking a competitive specialty and while I would like to land a residency in an appealing location, I’m not gunning on any top programs necessarily.

I don't think clinical research coordination counts as research.
Research is case reports, benchwork, publications, abstracts, and conference presentations

So would it just go under the employment section on my residency application? I’d think clinical research experience would be at least somewhat relevant for a future clinician.
