I have to choose between UCLA and UC Berkeley. Comparing the pre-dental resources at each school, which school is better for a pre-dent?

UCLA has a dental school, so that may help somewhat with being able to make connections or getting involved with the school. It would also be easier to attend any pre-dental events that the school holds.

Whichever school you’ll have more fun at. Undergrad doesn’t mean much when applying to dental school, so go where you think you’d better enjoy your college years

Choosing a college with a dental school really makes it easy to get solid volunteering and clinical experiences, as well as building relationships with potential future faculty of the dental school that could speak highly of you. Just comparing myself to a a few friends who went undergrad to a college with a dental school. I went undergrad to a school that did not have a dental school, and in that area it was tough to find dental specific volunteering outside of basic shadowing even with a pre-dental society.

Classmate of mine went to UCLA undergrad and didn't even get an interview to the UCLA dental school, so I would say no they don't really help that much.

Nope. I've said it before and I'll say it again. UCs (especially the high ranking ones like Cal and UCLA) are among the worst schools for pre-med and pre-dental students. Many of the students that have given up on med or dental schools because of the weeder classes at UCs would have thrived at smaller, lower-ranking private universities that do not deflate GPAs with ridiculous exams and curves. Moreover, you would not be competing with people who got 4.0 all throughout high school. Don't go to a UC if you're pre-med or pre-dental.

I went to a UC undergrad and had a great time. Sure there were "weeder" classes, but if you can't make it through those how are you going to make it through dental school? I think it prepared me very well actually and gave me lots of great research /dental opportunities I wouldn't have otherwise had. I didn't go to a UC that had a dental school, but there were lots of dental schools close to my area so I could still go to events (I think that did help)
