Hi everybody,

i was just wondering: Is it possible that you might experience difficulties with the easy straight forward questions when you focus on preparing with Usmleworld as QBank? My preparation mainly consists of UW and FA... plus occasional BRS for certain very high yield topics...

Would be glad to hear from you...

no, the straightforward questions are testing the same high-yield information that you will be learning with uW and FA. but they just aren't making you think 2 or 3 steps to get to the answer. very often the 1st step that you need to take to answer those very difficult questions is the one you already know and that is what the straightforward question tests, by definition and from personal experience! 🙂

The whole point of UW not testing on the "easy questions" is that you don't need to practice for those ones. Don't overthink it.

But, in regard to your study strategy, if I were you I would think about covering BRS Path and Phys (if you are using those) more extensively. They are very condensed and really don't take long to go through if you go chapter by chapter along with FA, and they really are "high yield." Relying on FA and UW with a little BRS thrown in isn't quite enough, in my opinion (depending on what you mean about "only very high yield topics"). BRS Path and Phys were really what helped me put things in context so I could remember them better. I used only UW, FA, BRS path, and BRS phys for my preparation - but I got through all of both BRS path and phys, and it really did help me.

Ok, thank you guys,

I read BRS Patho from Cover to Cover and read BRS Physio Cards and Renal chapter, thats what I ment by high yield...
Exam on 27th... This week reading FA again and working on my weaknesses...

Ok, that sounds reasonable. Consider looking at the respiratory chapter of BRS Physiology - I had several very basic respiratory questions that involved knowing equations and relationships that were covered in BRS Phys. Good luck on your exam!
