How much does it matter what school you attend when you are applying for different residency programs?

Does it more matter what school you went to or how well you did at the school?

I want to do a residency at the Universtiy of Utah which is along way away from any school so I am wondering if they would prefer one school over the other or if they are more interested in how I did at the school I attended.

No, it doesn't really matter where you go. It does matter how well you do. WHAT??? You haven't even started yet and you are already thinking about where you want to do residency??? I guess there is nothing wrong with thinking ahead  But there are a lot of residency programs out there with a lot of different things to offer. I am a proponent of choosing a program based more on training rather than location. Better training generally leads to more opportunity.

👍That is a good point. I was just wondering this becasue it may influence my decision as to where I go. But its good to know that it matters more how well you do, then opportunities will come from there.
