Does your school offer a specific prep program for part I?

I'm looking for info about how various schools prepare their students for part I. At UNC, almost all of the preparations are done through individual study. Anybody care to share how their program works?

If you attend all your classes and learn the material well the first time, then that seems like a pretty good study aid the school is providing for you. 🙂 Also, talk to D2 students as they probably just took or are about to take part I. I am sure they would be quite valuable.

Same here, though they do give us several half days off ostensibly for boards studying, and there are a few review sessions given for anatomy and histology.

they made us take the kaplan course which was a huge waste of money and we get 3-4 weeks off in december to study and take the test

I apologize for being obtuse in my question. I was asking if there was any formal board review above and beyond the coursework that the boards are testing you on, not whether or not such preparation was warranted or necessary.

Don't worry about it, I was just joking around with you a little. As nice as it would be, as far as I know, most schools leave it up to the students. I know it sucks, but at least when you kill the boards it makes you feel like you have accomplished something without the help of your lousy dental school.

At MWU we have a review course taught by our dental school faculty in the spring. it's a few hours a week but we have 3 faculty on the western regional examination board so they gear us up pretty well. then we have the whole summer to study/ take the boards at our leisure.

USC offers a series of reviews and we get a month off in july to get ready for it. We also take a bunch of mandatory mock boards to help us prepare.

WREB and NBDE are not the same. I imagine it would be more beneficial if you have professors who write questions for the NBDE or sit on the board for that.

We have the same deal as OP here at Colorado: individual study. Oh, and as a bonus we are scheduled in class up through the week before we have to take Part I, which is after only one year of dental school! Oh boy! I guess it should be all fresh up in there though, right?
