Doing Secondaries Early..

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's a good way to get a head start on things. No way to guarantee the prompts will remain the same, but there's a few core prompts like "why this school" and "what do you bring in terms of diversity" that come up every year for a lot of schools.

What is the consensus on working on secondary applications early based on prompts posted from previous years?

Very smart move if you have the time. Drafting secondaries is a tough process because many involve a great deal of thought and introspection. Try to do one secondary a day, therefore assuming you start early, all your secondaries will be wrapped up by end of July. Keep in mind that many secondaries ask the same question or can be easily tailored to answer the question.

Some schools have the secondary prompts posted on their website (Univ of Washington, Utah to name a couple). Places like Rush note that they will make the secondary available in early July. I'm planning on working on the ones that have the prompts available, and playing it by ear on the rest. Going from the previous school specific threads might be your best bet as far as identifying schools that keep the same prompts year to year. Good luck!

the common ones are definitely worth doing. some schools may change them so you should be careful.
