How long did you guys have to wait for the fingerprint clearance? The FBI fingerprint has been cleared, I am just waiting on the DOJ. It has been 2.5 months waiting and still in progress. Should i look for an alternative job, apply to a different state? Did anyone have to wait 6 months plus for clearance from DOJ?

It should take less than a month. Where did you get your fingerprint at? I would ask the livescan place.

Contacted the DBC and they have been notified of 2 delays noticed from DOJ (each delay can take up 30 days).

I've been waiting for the CA DOJ for almost 2.5 months as well. Painful.

finally after 72 days of waiting it has been completed. happy day.

Memo to future candidates:

If your answer to the following question is 'yes', you better submit your livescan WELL AHEAD OF TIME. I wish somebody posted this before it would have saved me from a lot of frustration and heartache.

With the exception of a conviction for an infraction resulting in a fine of less than $300, have you ever been convicted of any crime, including an infraction, misdemeanor or felony?

“Conviction” includes a plea of no contest and any conviction that been set aside pursuant to Section 1203.4 of the Penal code. Therefore, you must disclose any convictions in which you entered a plea of no contest and any No convictions that were subsequently set aside pursuant to Section 1203.4 of the Penal Code.

Anybody else have any advice or words of wisdom?

not that they're remotely helpful, have you tried call the Dept of Justice? They have a fingerprint department. 916-227-3823. I have been waiting for 3 months now too, it's pretty insane how inefficient the dept is.

I called them several times with the same answer each time: it is still in progress, can take up to 3-6 months due to conviction, busy time of the year, common name, etc. I hope more members can take the poll so future dent students will know what to expect.

My story is interesting since I actually had my finger print rejected by FBI and DOJ. They got back to me with the rejection letter about 4 wks after... I have to go thru the finger print process again and hopefully it goes thru. The reason for rejection was the quality of finger print was too "low to be read." Not sure what that means but the sheriff's office was suggesting that my finger prints may be too worn down since I am a dentist. wth?
My husband got his finger print cleared and got his license within 6 wks of his application. Most of my classmate didnt' take more than one month or so to get theirs.
