First off, thanks to everyone on here who answered my questions and helped me out.. You know who you are and im here if you need me... SDN ROCKS..... Also, especially thankyou to Nancy and Dr.Romano, you guys came through for me bigtime, in helping me and on your word (I really put the Dat Destroyers "you can call the author and ask him if you have a question" to the test....). Sorry for calling so much, but you guys are awesome...!! To those of you still studying, Everyone knows me on here, im not a newbie posting, just one of you guys...I highly recommend getting your hands on the destroyer. I used it, said I would give my opinion of it when I was done - I thought it was an amazing study tool, every section was on point, and the people behind it are great people... I used the same materials I did as the last time I took the test, with the addition of the destroyer, the difference in scores speaks for it self... Nuff said....
(I know someone asked me in another thread but I cant find it)
Last time I took this test, I got a 16AA and 16TS.... So im very happy I went up 9 POINTS in the bio section, 5 pts in Gchem, 3pts in orgo... : My first takes scores were : Bio:16, Gchem14, Ochem 18, rc18, qr14
Man after 2 power bars, a rockstar energy drink and cranking pantera the whole ride to the testing facility, I was ready to go 10 rounds with tyson, forget about sitting still at a computer for 4hrs...lol....
Bio: (Cause I know everyones gonna ask...lol).. I ripped through the bio section in 22 min, I still had an extra 8 min to devote to Gchem (which was one of my weakest subjects)... I felt really prepared for this section and thought it was pretty straight forward style questions... I got two of the popular ones, cheetah and frog.... I read through Kaplan blue book for an overall review, anything I wanted more info on I went to campbells, memorized all the destroyer questions with cue cards I made and tested myself with topscore...
Gchem : I was worried about this section, I thought I was going to bomb it again like I did the last time... It was a lot of theory, not too many calculations (thank god).. Again, I read Kaplan, which I don't feel did a good job on this section, ebbing/gammon textbook and went through all the destroyer problems like 3 times...
Orgo : Pretty straight forward rxns... Nothing too complicated with more than 2 steps... Sn1, Sn2, E2 rxns... One IR, one spectro question... Destroyer was on the money for this section.. I had a good understanding of Orgo, went through my textbook (carey - great orgo text book) and did the destroyer problems over 2-3 times..
QR : All I can say is WTF???? The questions were not that bad, and I SWEAR I knew 75% of them.. I even had like 6-7 minutes left at the end to go back over marked ones... (anything I knew I couldnt solve or would take time I marked right away)... Trig - forget it, I never knew it, never will... I only had like 3 trig questions.. the rest were word problems and fraction/ algebra / probability type stuff.. I was SHOCKED when I saw my score for this section.. I really thought it was going to be my second highest score, thats how positivie I was on my answers.. The ONLY explanation I have for this is completely illogical - the grading for this section is wrong.. Thats how sure I was... I honestly don't know how the hell that happened.. But judging by the other scores from people who took it yesterday too, it must have been harder than I thought.. (Unless the scoring really is wrong).. I practiced this stuff, because math is my weakest subject for sure, but cmon, a chimpanzee sitting at the desk, slapping the mouse could get higher than a 13.. Somethings wrong.. Maybe it's my math skills, who knows.. but it's a little out of place with the rest of my scores.. I hope this doesnt kill my applications.. What a shame.. It made the difference between me securing a seat in dental school (somewhere), to still having to worry now.... Man I could almost taste that seat in Stony Brook... (although now that I think about it, someones a$$ was on that seat.. ick.. ) But you know what I mean.. lol...
RC : This section was INSANE.......... Yes english is my native language..lol.. Its my only language... The first passage I had was on cancer and it had like 17 paragraphs!!!!!... I thought I was DEAD in the water.. I spent 35 minutes on this passage alone and wasnt sure of ANY of my answers except maybe 5 of the 20.. EVERYTHING was paraphrased.... The second two passages saved my butt... I got stocks, which I happen to know a bit about, so I was able to answer a few questions without reading and score back some of my time.. Same thing with the last section, was on the brain which I also was able to answer a few questions without reading.. I didnt really do much to prepare for this section other than doing the topscore tests. Theres really no way to prepare for it..
Pat : This section was also crazy... either I knew the answer right away, or I had NO freggin idea.. Angles werent that bad.. Cubes were standard, hole punching, TFE and folding were just off the wall... Some of them, I could have spent my whole 60 minutes on and still wouldnt have been able to get them..
Hope that helps guys...... Im here if you need me..
