Alright guys, tell me whether I should laugh or cry?

Ochem : 21
Gchem : 19
Bio : 25 😀
Rc : 19
Qr : 13 😱 WTF???????????
Pat: 18
Ts : 22
AA : 19

First off, thanks to everyone on here who answered my questions and helped me out.. You know who you are and im here if you need me... SDN ROCKS..... Also, especially thankyou to Nancy and Dr.Romano, you guys came through for me bigtime, in helping me and on your word (I really put the Dat Destroyers "you can call the author and ask him if you have a question" to the test....). Sorry for calling so much, but you guys are awesome...!! To those of you still studying, Everyone knows me on here, im not a newbie posting, just one of you guys...I highly recommend getting your hands on the destroyer. I used it, said I would give my opinion of it when I was done - I thought it was an amazing study tool, every section was on point, and the people behind it are great people... I used the same materials I did as the last time I took the test, with the addition of the destroyer, the difference in scores speaks for it self... Nuff said....

(I know someone asked me in another thread but I cant find it)
Last time I took this test, I got a 16AA and 16TS.... So im very happy I went up 9 POINTS in the bio section, 5 pts in Gchem, 3pts in orgo... : My first takes scores were : Bio:16, Gchem14, Ochem 18, rc18, qr14

Man after 2 power bars, a rockstar energy drink and cranking pantera the whole ride to the testing facility, I was ready to go 10 rounds with tyson, forget about sitting still at a computer for 4hrs...lol....

Bio: (Cause I know everyones gonna ask...lol).. I ripped through the bio section in 22 min, I still had an extra 8 min to devote to Gchem (which was one of my weakest subjects)... I felt really prepared for this section and thought it was pretty straight forward style questions... I got two of the popular ones, cheetah and frog.... I read through Kaplan blue book for an overall review, anything I wanted more info on I went to campbells, memorized all the destroyer questions with cue cards I made and tested myself with topscore...

Gchem : I was worried about this section, I thought I was going to bomb it again like I did the last time... It was a lot of theory, not too many calculations (thank god).. Again, I read Kaplan, which I don't feel did a good job on this section, ebbing/gammon textbook and went through all the destroyer problems like 3 times...

Orgo : Pretty straight forward rxns... Nothing too complicated with more than 2 steps... Sn1, Sn2, E2 rxns... One IR, one spectro question... Destroyer was on the money for this section.. I had a good understanding of Orgo, went through my textbook (carey - great orgo text book) and did the destroyer problems over 2-3 times..

QR : All I can say is WTF???? The questions were not that bad, and I SWEAR I knew 75% of them.. I even had like 6-7 minutes left at the end to go back over marked ones... (anything I knew I couldnt solve or would take time I marked right away)... Trig - forget it, I never knew it, never will... I only had like 3 trig questions.. the rest were word problems and fraction/ algebra / probability type stuff.. I was SHOCKED when I saw my score for this section.. I really thought it was going to be my second highest score, thats how positivie I was on my answers.. The ONLY explanation I have for this is completely illogical - the grading for this section is wrong.. Thats how sure I was... I honestly don't know how the hell that happened.. But judging by the other scores from people who took it yesterday too, it must have been harder than I thought.. (Unless the scoring really is wrong).. I practiced this stuff, because math is my weakest subject for sure, but cmon, a chimpanzee sitting at the desk, slapping the mouse could get higher than a 13.. Somethings wrong.. Maybe it's my math skills, who knows.. but it's a little out of place with the rest of my scores.. I hope this doesnt kill my applications.. What a shame.. It made the difference between me securing a seat in dental school (somewhere), to still having to worry now.... Man I could almost taste that seat in Stony Brook... (although now that I think about it, someones a$$ was on that seat.. ick.. ) But you know what I mean.. lol...

RC : This section was INSANE.......... Yes english is my native language..lol.. Its my only language... The first passage I had was on cancer and it had like 17 paragraphs!!!!!... I thought I was DEAD in the water.. I spent 35 minutes on this passage alone and wasnt sure of ANY of my answers except maybe 5 of the 20.. EVERYTHING was paraphrased.... The second two passages saved my butt... I got stocks, which I happen to know a bit about, so I was able to answer a few questions without reading and score back some of my time.. Same thing with the last section, was on the brain which I also was able to answer a few questions without reading.. I didnt really do much to prepare for this section other than doing the topscore tests. Theres really no way to prepare for it..

Pat : This section was also crazy... either I knew the answer right away, or I had NO freggin idea.. Angles werent that bad.. Cubes were standard, hole punching, TFE and folding were just off the wall... Some of them, I could have spent my whole 60 minutes on and still wouldnt have been able to get them..

Hope that helps guys...... Im here if you need me..

Wow dude...QR is what kept me out of dental school last time I took the DAT; I'm starting to freak out. Your scores are so good that I don't think the QR will be a problem - call the schools you want to go to and ask if people with QR of 13 and AA/TS/PAT scores like yours have been accepted.

You did great!

wow you did an amazing job!!!
hey im retaking this test too.. and last time i took it i had your same test, and your same QR score!!! and i swearrrrrrrrr i thought i did like at least a 19 on it!! i dontknow and thats the reasonwhy i didnt get acepted although myother scores were a bit lower as well.
anyway i wanted to ask you.. i have destroyer and im workingon it ... but do u think the math prepared you? i dont know i hate math and i just cant do it. but the destroyer stuff im understanding....

as for RC do u mind sharing what method u used? causei cant read fast =((((

goodluck and im sure youll get in

Hey thanks... Let me ask you, what were your other scores that you said your QR kept you out of dental school? Just trying to get a comparison here... I know why my scores last time I took it kept me out of dental school, I just plain bombed the test.. But this time its just a matter of one section.....

Yes I really do feel like the math in Destroyer prepared me, because before I went through the destroyer problems I didnt know how to do ANYTHING in math (I haven't taken a math course in over 8 years), the explanations were key, I didnt know how to approach any of the problems, would read the explanation then go back to it a few days later and see if I could set it up myself.. If i got stuck, I would cheat and look a the answer again, see where I got caught up then come back a few days later.. I hate math with a passion... Honestly, I really felt I knew the answers to the questions and how to approach i'd say 75% of them... I was shocked to see that score.. I thought RC was my lowest score for sure.. As for the RC, there is no way to be able to read this stuff fast, it's all medical jargon.. My method was to read the first and last sentence of each paragraph, just to get an idea of what it was talking about, I would jot down paragraph # and just a key point from the 2 sentences, then when the question came up, I would atleast have an idea of where to start looking. Best of luck to all of you still studying for this thing.. Keep up the fight...

I had no intention of retaking the test and I still don't. Most schools have told me I will not be disqualified because of my math score. I scored PAT 18 QR 14 RC 23 BIO 21 GC 19 OC 29 TS 21 AA 21. I only took the test last Wed. but still have no interview invites so I am getting a little bit nervous. Are others who did well besides math going to retake?

yellow dont get nervous because it takes like 2 weeks for the schools to get your DAT score.

Yeah man, I have no intentions of taking it again either.. I don't think I wanna go through this hell again.. I haven't seen the sun in over 2 months... lol.. You got some killer scores (29 Ochem is off the hook) I wouldnt be to worried about it.. Honestly, if they keep you out of dental school because of one section with the rest of your scores like that, that just plain sucks.. Also, I wouldnt be worried about not getting interview invites yet, you only took the test last week, it can take up to 3 weeks for the schools to get your scores, then they first have to look at them... You got some time before you start freakin out...

hi indie,
good job on your scores. don't worry, most schools don't care about QRT.
what were you getting on your AA before you take the exam, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the encouragement. We are all three in the same boat but it really isn't a bad place to be. Besides one section we rocked it. Good luck.

Hey, are you referring to like topscore AA? I was getting 19-20's (22-23 pat).... I was even getting 18-19's in QR... which is why I dont know what the hell happened..

Indie, congrats! Your scores really went up. I hope you have some nice plans to relax now. By the way nice bio score.

Yeah the QR section got all 3 of us... I just hope the rest of our scores are enough to keep the boat a float... Otherwise were gonna have to throw someone overboard.. titanic style... lol...

😕

Ah! Good question, I see where you're headed.

AA: 17
TS: 18
PAT: 18
QR: 13 ...I wasn't prepared and I didn't approach this section well - I remember wasting 4-5 minutes on some questions (what an idiot!)

Btw, I only used Kaplan last time - hope to kick butt the 2nd time around. At my interview at LLU, they told me I needed to retake b/c of the QR score.
