Hey guys just got done with the DAT yesterday....didnt get home till about 6pm so decided to post my views today. I was very nervous going into the test since it was my second time and i knew i had to do well. But believe me after i came out of the test i had nothing but joy in my heart. I jumped 3+ points in most sections from my first time. I scored a 20+ in most of the sections.

Let me break it down:

The Bio, I would say the DAT destroyer is the KEY here. Definately buy the DAT Destroyer. Its worth it. Next review everything in the Kaplan Book as well as do Topscore and, DAT acheiver to get practice.
The Chem, again DAT destroyer helps. I thought i did the worst in this section but guess what???? I ended up getting the highest score in it!!! DAT achiever might also be useful in terms of practice.Use the kaplan book for reference.

Orgo Chem was a little tougher than i thought. Maybe it was my version of the test. I was real confident going in and thought i didnt miss a single question. I was wrong. Make sure you know the usual Sn1, sn2, E1, e2, alchohol ketones etc etc. Again the DAT destroyer makes life much easier.

Reading, Just read as many passages as you can to get practice and use the scan method to find words. Easy enough.

As for the PAT and QR, i cannot really give any advice other than do as many practice problems as you can. There is no pattern in this. DAT destroyer, achiever and topscore will be enough.

Again, I strongly urge all to buy the DAT Destroyer for your sciences. Believe me its the best $150 ull spend and it will be worth it. It will be a great edition to your study materials of Achiever and Kaplan. Another reason to buy the Destroyer is because of the authors of the Book Dr Romano and Nancy. Dr. Romano is very helpful, available to help whenever he can make sometime. Nancy pretty much is available for help anytime of the day. They are both very knowledgable and great human beings🙂 .

Lastly, i wanted to thank everyone on SDN for their help. Couldnt have done it without you guys. For people who are taking the test soon or might retake it, DONT GIVE UP AND HANG IN THERE!!!!! If i can do it anyone can!!!!😉

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!!:luck: 👍

good job. im retaking this saturday and im pissing in my pants. i have the destroyer so i hope it really helps as much as people say.

how similar was this test to the last one you took?

Dont worry bro im sure youll do great. Just make sure you understand all the problems in destroyer acheiver and topscore. I cant really recall how similar the test was. But i can say it was about the same difficulty level. If you can score 18+ on your sections in achiever, topscore and destroyer...youll blow the test away!!!!

i think one of the passages was on cell death or somthing thats the only one i remember😎

First of all, Congrats on your achievement! You're done and seem very happy with your scores.

Question:
I couldn't tell where you were on this from your post, but it seems like everyone that has been promoting Destroyer has been buying it very late in the game, like just a couple weeks or so before the actual exam? Is that what you would recommend?
I'm kind of just starting out in my studies right now, trying to work through the Kaplan Blue Book to get some sort of review and foundation before I really begin testing myself. I also have Barron's DAT review and Bio review (Schaum's, Kaplan AP BIO) which I wanted to spend at least a bit of time on. I have a little less than 3 months to prepare... am I wasting my time working on all the other stuff first and waiting to get destroyer? What is your take on that?

I would say know the material first and then test. Destroyer is hardcore stuff. I did some of the bio from destroyer without preparing much and did very bad. You gotta know your stuff well before doing destroyer, that's why everybody does it in the last 2 weeks. There are total of about 600 questions on 4 subjects in destroyer that shouldn't take you more than a week to do, only if you know the material.
Good luck to you.
p.s. why r u taking DAT in 3 months? R u perhaps retaking? or r u applying for 2008 cycle?

I agree with PersianDDS here. Only do the questions in the Destroyer when you think you are ready or it wont be much help. The Destroyer is not meant to be done in a weeks time. It should be throughly understood to why you get things wrong etc. if you really want to use its full potential.

Awesome, thank you guys so much for the advice. I'll keep up with the review before I go for the destroyer. I've got tons to go through!
And yes- I am applying for the 2008 cycle, I know it's a really odd time to take the DAT's since everyone else will be putting it off until late spring/summer, but it's based on my school schedule. I've got a ton of classes to take spring AND summer so right now is the time that I have to study. I figure at least I'll have it done and over with by the time everyone else is stressing! Plus I'll have a much better assessment of how strong my application is when I talk to deans in the future.
Thanks guys! And best of luck to you too.
