Hello SDNers!

I took the DAT yesterday and here are my scores:

PA 22 (99.6%)
QR 19 (86.5%)
RC 27 (99.7%)
BIO 23 (98.9%)
G Chem 29 (100)
O Chem 24 (95.5)
TS 25 (99.8)
AA 24 (99.5)

I want to say thanks to SDNers for your advice and tips. I'm glad I went on this forum the day before the test and picked up the "foldable ruler" technique because it saved my life. The real PAT was similar in terms of difficulty to the Kaplan/TS PAT. The keyhole and cube counting were easier than Kaplan and TS. The paper folding and TFE were the similar. The angle ranking was hard because the angles were like 1-2 degrees off. Somebody mentioned earlier about looking at the answer choices first before using the ruler. That will save you time.

The science sections were pretty easy. I scored like 17-19 on Kaplan/TS and got a lot higher on the real thing. Use Kaplan/TS material as homework. They don't reflect what you're going to get on the real thing. I came in the test with no confidence and came out pleasantly surprised. I got a little unlucky on the biology because I got a **** load of ecology/evolution/origin of life/embrology questions. I barely got any biochem/physiology questions and I knew that stuff inside out. The G Chem was freaking easy with barely any calculations.

RC was a piece of cake. I finished with 10 extra minutes. The questions were a little harder than Kaplan's but definitely the passages were easier to understand.

QR was tough for me. Math is not my strong point and it shows. I knew I had no chance with math so I didn't really study for this section. I basically just did Kaplan/TS full length exams a week and half before my test.

Anyway, good luck on the DAT for those who haven't taken it. Expect to get at least 2-3 points above your Kaplan/TS scores. Don't worry. Everything will work out for the best.

Congratulations on your great scores, miravyn! Good job 🙂

I'm a long-time SDN reader, first-time poster, hehe. I've been preparing to take the DAT on September 6th (2 weeks to go 😱 ). Thanks for your advice! 🙂

QR is one of the tougher sections for me, as well. Did you find yourself running out of time during the QR? That seems to be a bit of a problem for me with this section on the Kaplan tests I've been doing, but I'm getting better at it (by just marking the really tough ones that I spend too much time on and moving on.)

congrats..awesome scores.. well, besides topscore/kaplan what other sources did you use?
thanks

did you have any questions that required you to know any equations in quantative reasoning and in g-chem... or any convesions?? thanks

Woww! Great scores! Just wondering, what schools are you applying to?

Congrats on awesome scores! 100 percentile is sweet!

You make the exam sound a lot more doable than I imagine. hehe Thanks for the reassurance. Now, I guess you'll just wait for those piles of acceptance letters. 😀

I guessed on like 1/4 of the test. Actually it's quite a miracle I ended up with a 19. Honestly, I don't understand how people score so high on this section. That's pure genius. And yes, I ran out of time on this section. I'm not sure what's the right way to study for this section. If I got to take the DAT again, I don't think I could do better on the QR.

You don't need to know any equations. But I did get a question on F to C temperature conversion, which is F= 9/5 + 32. Everyone gets a conversion problem I think and I happened to get a temperature one. As for G chem, I don't remember any particular equation...just practice those solutions/solubliity questions. I had a few of those on the test.

Hi, are you allow to use the foadable ruler technique at the testing site. I thought they would have a sign to warn people not to touch the screen..
