Done with DAT... NOT !!!

OK. I took my first DAT yesterday, 8.20 and here are the scores

PAT 21
QR 17
RC 16
BIO 17
GC 17
OC 15
TOTAL SCIENCE 16
AA 16

I know I have to retake it, but would love to hear what you all think. To be honest, I knew I wasn't prepared enough and was hoping for a little bit of luck, but shouldn't have.

I got that "Piano" passage, which was quite interesting actually.

Now, I have a question for those who did well on the DAT. I know how I will deal with GC and OC, but need advice on how to study for BIO, bc it is so broad.

Ya, at least you have your PAT set, don't need to bother studying for that anymore.
Get Cliffs, Destroyer, AP Bio Barrons

For O-chem and gen-chem, I don't know how to study for those. I think O-chem would be a bigger problem than g-chem because it is more conceptual.

I used destroyer + kaplan + cliffs AP Bio books for my sciences. i havnt used anything else like achiever or anything but i feel that destroyer was good enough for me.

I ended up getting a 20 in bio and an 18 in gchem which im happy with...but i got a 17 in orgo...and dont ask me why haha. Destroyer does go through all the reactions with helpful roadmaps so if you use it correctly im sure it can help you out.

You are lucky. A high PAT score when you weren't even ready means you own that section and you will do even better with practice. For the sciences, all you have to study and you'll improve. Other people just can't get the PAT no matter how hard they try, so you should feel lucky that you have that covered.

As for Bio, I'm a bio major, have taken a ton of classes and used a lot of study material and still didn't do so hot on the section so I don't know what to say lol. Just know everything I guess...

Piano is your worst nightmare. The answers are not in the passage at all. Just hope that you dont get it.
