omg I'm finally done with DAT........I've been waiting for this moment to come so badly! Here's what I got today:

PA 19 - i found keyhold & pattern folding harder than CDP 🙁
QR 21 -found it harder than topscore
RC 22 - didn't have piano (used to get same score with topscore/achiever)
Bio 21 -many unexpected questions!! no classification
GC 23 -similar to topscore
OC 26 -😀 destroyer is the best!!
AA 23, TS 23

I panicked at the end when I saw I had only 3 min left and I still had about 11 questions left for QR. I've been really good with math so that was kinda unexpected.. I think I guessed like 3-4 questions but ended up with 21. In general, I'm quite satisfied with my scores except for PA, which I used to get around 21 with CDP.

I started studying since mid-May for about 7-8 hrs almost every day.
As everyone said, bio was VERY random.. I mean it had some weird questions that I've never seen before. Except that, destroyer definitely prepared me well for GC and OC.

In terms of my application, I've applied 20 schools and my overall GPA w/o +/- is 3.8 and w/ +/- is 3.89. I'm canadian so I figured I had to do really really well on dat to be accepted. I'm guessing some of my possible drawbacks to adcoms may be.. my relatively low PAT, the fact that I've been premed before, and that I'm applying to many schools. Would this PAT score be too low for many schools?

I've been soooo nervous and stressed out lately because of this dat. It's my first time taking it but I knew if I didn't do well I would have to wait until october. I believe if you just keep studying hard and do your best on the exam day (and not panic!) then it will be fine.

One thing to note is that I didn't know I only had 1 break after pat.. I ended up wanting to go to washroom by the end of QR section
Also, I didn't have scrap paper but I got something like dray erase board.
and it was VERY noisy outside the room!!! that was very annoying. I talked to the person at the front desk that I couldn't concentrate b/c ppl at the back were being very loud. but he just told me to keep wearing headphones 🙁

hey, can you tell me specifically the best way to do Destroyer ?

and how was your method for doing RC?

With your gpa, why arent you applying to a Canadian school? And, I cannot see why a private institution would not accept you with your gpa and DAT scores

I basically reviewed the destroyer questions and answers thoroughly multiple times (I read them 3 times) and tried to recall reactions, how to approach certain types of questions, etc. I think for bio, it was very different with destroyer, topscore, or others.
For RC, I practiced with topscore and achiever. When I used them, I briefly skimmed through the passage for about 5-6min and focused on questions for 13 min or so. But on the actual DAT, I found that I had to read it more carefully because it was harder to find the paragraph that the question is asking about. Compared to the practice tests, the passage was kind of squeezed at the bottom with the question at the top so it was harder to view the passage.

I think my GPA is too low for canadian schools when it's converted to numerical scales. 🙁 I think it's about 84 and canadian schools don't give extra points for grades above 90. I heard UofT for example, had 3.9 cutoff for giving interviews last year..so I didn't even take canadian DAT. and I wouldn't like to study again for dat in fall!

Where do you go to school? Most institutions rank on the 4 point scale. The entrance average for the UofA was 3.8 last year.

I go to University of Western Ontario. I had spent my first year at U of T but transferred. I live in BC though, so it would be nice if I could get into UBC dentistry since ontario schools don't prefer out of province students. I hear 83-4ish is not good enough for ubc or applying as an out of province student..
But I would love to get into schools in states if I do get accepted even though it's way more expensive !
