QR 14 🙁

Total Sceince 20
Academic Average 18

This was my first time taking the EXam, I seriously thought of the exam as this big monster, and i just wanted to get over with....I rescheduled many many times because i was afraid of it....I'm glad I did it....
From some of you students I learned about the DAT destroyer, and i purchased it....I also had the Achiever, Kaplan and Barron's book
My Recomendation will be study the Kaplan first, make your skills good, buy the Destroyer ( DEfenilty) and STudy it in an out....
I will Take the DAT again, but I wont be afraid of scinece part anymore...
For now, I have to Figure out somehow to Bring up my RC, PA, and QR score...Though i have to say, in Achiever I did very well in RC, but not in science part, and the opposite happened on the real test.
I really thank to all people who recomended the DEstroyer, I don't know how to thank Dr. Romano The author of the book and nancy. I really REcommentd it to anyone who wants high score in Science. I really would like to hear some of your feedbacks, how to raise my RC , PA score for my next exam.

I scored a 16 on PAT and increased it to 18 and could have probably done better. Increasing PAT is a matter of doing many of them, your mind seems to get used to doing them and it will make things a lot easier. Search for some threads about PAT tricks.

RC is pretty much picking an effective strategy for yourself. It is not difficult and with practice you can do well. Personally I just searched for each question (skipped the inference questions until the very end) and by the time I did a few of them I pretty much remembered where everything was in the passage. I ended up having 10 minutes to spare. It worked for me but try a few of the suggestions that you can search for.

I did very poorly in QR the second time but that is because I did not study it very much. Practice problems will help and focus on it. It is easy to let this part slip.

Dont get too overconfident in the sciences and let those scores drop. You will be fine next time because you know what you are up against. Good luck next time, I am sure you will do very well.

Hey GoDucks69... I just noticed we have the same interview date for BU. I'll see you there!

Good luck!! 🙂

Actually I am going to withdraw my app from BU. Pacific is my number 1 so I am going there. Good luck at BU though!

I am finally done with my DAT! After putting my test off twice, taking the Kaplan course (which was not all that great in my opinion... and trying to study every free moment that I was not working, I can finally submit my post for all of you great people to read. My thanks to SDN for helping me find the study tools!

Here is my story: I have been out of school for 3 years. I've worked as a nurse for the past three years and from the moment I graduated, I wanted to really be a dentist (there is a story to this, but for times sake, I will not elaborate). So, I took a year of Chem in 3 months over the summer (half a day classes) worked in the evening, and have basically been doing this for the past 3 years on and off until all my prereqs were filled up. I can totally understand all of you that have to work 40 plus hours a week and study. I started Kaplan and just felt I could not remember everything, nor was there any way I could memorize it all. I soon learned about the Destroyer from SDN. At first, like some of you, I was not sure I wanted to spend more money on study materials. I thought, well, Kaplan is the way to go, I took it for the nursing exams, so I will take it for the DAT as well. I basically wanted to do anything that would help, so I got the Destroyer- the DESTROYER is hands down the ultimate DAT tool. I live halfway across the USA from Dr. Romano and Nancy, yet I was treated like one of their students. I really can't say enough about these individuals. Biology, it is hands down golden. I also think the O'Chem in the destroyer is the way to go. In school, I felt like I walked away not knowing anything in O'Chem. The Destroyer taught me and reinforced concepts over and over. If you are weak in this area, I suggest getting the High Yield Organic Chemistry book. You can read it in a day. Gen Chem is also excellent in the Destroyer. The key is to practice these problems over and over until you feel comfortable with them all, and you'll score great. My QR was low simply because I did not study enough for it. Put the time in, and you should be ok. There are a lot of fraction problems. So, after many hours of sitting, carrying my backpack with me to work, and my books with me everywhere, and working overnights to get some extra studying in, I can finally relax some. I am not a genius like many of you on SDN and the Destroyer has helped me get closer to my goals. Hope this helps all of you and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Congrats Blend. How long did you study for the DAT?

I studied for the DAT for 2 months. I wanted to study longer, but could not take more than a week off from work. Just stay focused. I think the hardest part about it was remembering the light at the end of the tunnel. The time that you put in now will have years and years of benefits. Think of it this way: a few months of working hard, staying focused, and learning will really pay off. Some people that are not studying may not really understand what you are going through. Surround yourself with positive people that will help you towards your goals. I found this on SDN. You will be amazed at all you know after you are done with your studies.

Blend,

Thank you for giving us the ones struggling to stay focused in our studies ... the vision of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Congrats!

my score is very similar to yours...i ended up with 14 in QR also, the rest of the sections similar to yours. are you gonna retake it because of the QR, you think thats smart to do?
