so i finally took the test this morning at 8 am after not being able to sleep the past three nights. i want to thank everyone on here that gave me such helpful information..
anyway, i was surprised by my scores and hope my taking it this late isnt that bad..
here are the score
PAT: 21 92.2
QR: 19 84.9
RC: 23 94.5
Bio: 26 99.6
Gchem: 24 95.2
Ochem: 26 98.1

TS: 26 99.9
AA: 24 99.4

I have never felt so tired, but I will post a detailed breadown later..
quickly, what I used was kaplan online and white book, destroyer, cliffs ap bio, examcrackers bio, and cdp + cdm

First I just wana say that my Bio was definitely not anywhere as hard as some people have made it to be. I heard alot about certain topics to focus on, and freaked out, but honestly if you do destroyer and have a good Bio backround you should get a 19+ easy.
For Gchem I had about 90% calculations!!! And for Ochem nothing really out of the blue except one question I wasnt sure about..

So I actually started with Gchem and Orgo and then went back to Bio..my reasoning was that I had thought the Bio would be so hard and wanted to go through the easy sections first and end with confidence on Bio..Well I guess it worked! My computer was very fast going from one question to another so this helped..

For RC, I thought I had bombed it..I advise to definitely do MCAT practice passages to get better at tone type questions..Also, the stupid women outside the door felt the need to talk at her coworker the whole time which was annoying..I was I think the most surprised on how well I did on this section..I had actually never gotten this high a score on any practice.

Math is really overrated on here too. I had a lot of word problems but they were not as hard as some people made them out to be. Destroyer should be enough for this..

will write more later..thanks again

hey thanks so funny we do!
i actually submitted my online end of june, however my advisor didnt submit my committee letter until a week ago..

for the pat, i spent a huge amount of time..however, what i did was go through cdp 1 section at a time instead of full tests..about a week ago i took 2 full lengths and got a 22 on one and 23 on the other..

comparing cdp to the real thing, angles were not that much easier, cube counting way easier, hole punching easier except some weird folds i hadnt seen, keyholes about the same, pattern folding definitely different but not necessarily harder than cdp..

also i forgot to post my topscore
i didnt do math or reading on the 1st or 3rd test

test 1 test 2 test 3
bio:19 bio20 bio:19
chem:25 chem:19 chem:23
orgo:19 orgo:19 orgo:30
rc:22
qr:22

sorry this came out looking weird on the screen

for my crack dat math i took 3 fullengths: 22,23,22

i think these were really good comparisons to the real thing...but practice them after you studied about 3 and a half hours when you feel dead

any other questions feel free to ask, ive gotten a lot of help from this forum!

Great Job! Sick scores, so hopefully the schools will see that and push your app through for early decision.

good jobb!!!!!!!.u got awesome scores!!.....what kinda strategies did you use for RC..?

for RC, I basically used Kaplan's method of reading fast and noting keywords. I felt I was doing badly by the last passage, and was shocked by my score..Im not sure search and destroy would work on the tone questions..just work on skimming and mark each paragraph
I would definitely do MCAT practice to get the tone question practice..I only did 3 of these but could see that they would have helped me more.

awesome score bro, congratz, quick question tho: we can take the DAT as many times as we want right? and they will take the highest score?

I believe you can take it 3 times, and it depends on the school that you apply to for which score they take.

for general chem i used the kaplan white book..im not sure if this is the same as the blue book? also i used destroyer and all of the kaplan online materials..if you do all these enough so that you are very comfortable you should get a 20 + guranteed

wicked scores dude! definite acceptance without a doubt! thanks for the breakdown too, best of luck.

great job! question: how long did you study for and what was your avg study schedule like?

great job! question: how long did you study for and what was your avg study schedule like?

i started studying in june but had summer classes, so i did about 2 hrs a day from then until mid august. from mid august until end of september i studied about 7-8 hrs a day. any more questions feel free to ask!

Your scores are pretty awesome!! I took my 2nd DAT on Sept 30, 2008 but not so good scores as yours. Sigh* I spent my whole summer doing 2 different research projects for publications, and wished to have enough time to study DAT.
Anyway, you rocked the DAT! Congrats!

good job! can you give more detail on how you studied for bio please! 🙂

for bio, i used:kaplan white book + online workshops, destroyer(went over it 4 times), cliffs ap bio, mcat exam crackers bio, and a princeton review book(not the hyperlearning one though).

this might see like a lot but it's not that bad. i would say i spent more time for bio than the other sections as i heard it was the hardest section. i would master everything from the books i mentioned above or other sources before doing destroyer... you know that you have reviewed enough when you can answer about 75% of the destroyer questions.

when i first got destroyer it was very overwhelming and i wanted to just quit..just put the destroyer away and dedicate about 2 hrs to bio a day.
i think anyone can master the bio on the test, you just have to put in the hard work. if you have other questions feel free to ask!

hey, was the calculation hard like Destroyer. I mean was in in multiple steps of 3 or 4? if you can clarify this it would be great.

if you are referring to g chem than i would say most of the time you dont have to do 3 or 4 step calculations, but there are some if i remember..
also for my test i had about 75% calculations.
i would say pretty much everything is covered in kaplan for gchem, and destroyer was good for this section
