For those of you who interviewed at NSU/ are waiting on their response, dont call Delia! I just did, to find out if I was accepted (I was 🙂 yay!) but she was pretty pissed...she said that giving their decision over the phone was not their policy and to wait for the letter in the mail...oops. i felt really bad, but I really wanted to know cause I have to cancel interviews that are in like a week and a half...I told her that but she was still pretty mad...anyways now I'm off to decide NSU vs. COMP!! suggestions people??

hey, at least she told you. congrats!

Call her.. that is part of life.. she should understand, we have interviews to plan/cancel. Especially since it is so hard to get a hold of them... a school is not going to regect you based on a call.

Yeah, I can't believe she got that mad. Oh well, its not like they will take away an acceptance just because you called the admissions office.

Congratulations! 👍 :hardy:

Let me preface this with I declined my interview at COMP. But, I would definitely go to NSU. It was a hard decision between KCUMB and NSU. Their facilities are phenomenal (sp?) and rotations are pretty amazing as well.

Boo-f***in-hoo if she didn't like it.

Not their policy? Then why did she tell you?

Won't be the last time you piss off an office worker.....welcome to medicine.

 Thanks...yea I'm kinda on the fence simply because of location and quality of rotations. I loved NSU on its own (jeez, those buildings are ****ing amazing!) and it seems like their education is sweet. BUT I've been living in FL for the past 4 years (went to FSU) and FL doesnt do it for me...especially S.FL...the traffic, the people (MIA peeps are...lets just say a little hard to handle), and yes the weather (hey, 4 hurricanes this year SUCKED the big one! not to mention the mugginess all year long) are kind of a turn off. but I feel that the education/facilities at NSU are lightyears away from COMP. When I interviewed at COMP I stayed with some students and I really liked their attitude, they seemed really laid back...plus their rotations at Arrowhead, Riverside, and other Cali hospitals are awesome. Not to mention my fiance is a graphic designer and is dying to go to california for work....everyone always says go where you'll be happier...I think I would be happier in california but I dont know...I've heard a good amount of bad stuff on COMP: faculty not being supportive, board pass rate (70%!?!), biochem prof...its turning out to be a pretty hard choice for me...

When I finally got hold of Delia, she didnt seem too angry about telling me my results.....but getting hold of her was damn near imposible. I have never had as many problems reaching one person as I did when I was trying to reach her.
As far as her attitude, I think it is the same problem with any large school's administration. Nobody wants to do anything they dont need to do.
And on a lighter note, i thought the dean's magic of medicine speech during the interview day was really cool.

I had the same problem with Delia. They told us on the day I interviewed that we could call to ask if we'd been accepted. Someone even asked if she minded, and they're all, like, no, of course not. I don't have a problem with them making us wait for our letter, I just wish they'd been up-front about it.
Oh well, they let me in!!!

She's gruff and overly harsh. She doesn't speak well to people over the phone.

I am sorry you got such harsh treatment. I try and be as helpful as i can when I do the tours and thats about as much contact I have with admissions now.

On a second note I was personally called...not me calling but I was called last year to let me know I was accepted. Most of my classmates were notified by mail but I liked the personal touch by the Dr. John Chaffin who is no longer in that office. Once your in school you really never deal with admissions again.
