Hey guys,

I just took my DAT and I'm kinda of unsure what I should do right now.

PA 16
RC 19
QR 19
Bio 17
GC 19
OC 19
TS 18
AA 19

My GPA: 3.55, sGPA 3.44 and BCP is 3.39

As far as ECs go, I have about 60 hours shadowing, volunteering and work.
I applied and submitted to 9 schools and am a Texas resident. Of course I would love to stay in Texas, but with these scores I don't know.

So I guess my question is should I just wait and see if I land any interviews within these next two months? Or do you suggest I hit the books again?

Appreciate any feedback.

The latter.

not sure any of the schools are going to let that 16PAT slide IMO

What did you do to prep for the PAT portion? Did you do the crack dat pat tests? If so, I suggest you use achiever to prep for the next time you take the DAT. I think you need to retake the test, but I believe you stand a small chance this cycle. I would guess you will get an interview or two and go onto a wait list and its a possibility you will sneak into a school this year.

Yeah, I did use cdp but did only two tests and the ada one and pretty much got 16 on all of them. I honestly didn't have much time left to study for it. I always heard achiever was harder, but sure will give it a try. And I agree with you on the interview and wait list part, and was actually hoping to hear that answer lol but in the meantime I guess I should start studying again 🙁

I would suggest going through all of CDP first, since you likely still have access to the program. I would work on the tests on a 'no time' setting until you understand how to do each section well. If by the end of the 10 tests you still are struggling, then get Achiever for the PAT section. Good luck to you as you study, and feel free to PM me any time if you are struggling to grasp any section of the PAT or the DAT in general.

Thanks 🙂 Really appreciate your willingness to help.

Honestly, I think you could sneak in somewhere this cycle. Most schools don't have "strict" cutoffs, so maybe a school will let that 16 PAT slide. I'm in a similar boat as you :/ In regards to your other scores, they're good enough to get you in as a 19AA is the average acceptance for dental schools anyway. Personally, I would probably apply with your scores now since your retake won't be until the beginning of November (if you have a bit of money to spare). Then if you don't hear anything back by around October or November, then begin to prepare for a retake. That's just my opinion and actually what my plan is as well.

As long as you are NOT applying to top schools like harvard, columbia, penn, etc. You have a decent chance.
