Don't know where to begin...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You should seriously consider taking a gap year, especially since you have zero shadowing hours and haven’t started prepping for your DAT yet. I think you should take this summer to shadow (keep calling around until somebody says yes, or try free clinics) and study for and take your DAT. If you are diligent, you can sign up for your DAT in mid-August and have a good 2.5 months to prepare. Then focus on your grades during your senior year while still volunteering/shadowing. Spring of your senior year, you should focus on writing your personal statement and getting your letters of recommendation. By the time late May/early June rolls around, you should have everything you need. Good luck!

I agree with @Its_Me_G . Also, you've got an awesome GPA and your volunteering is solid, so you're well on your way. Don't get discouraged. Look into other schools besides UB too - it's not the only good dental school out there.

@Its_Me_G has a solid point for taking a gap year. I would also suggest joining the University's pre-dental club which will open new opportunities to network with dentists and help you find clinics in varying specialties to shadows. In addition, you will also connect with other pre-dental students in which you can form study groups for DAT prep and/or for pre-requisite classes.

you can still give it a shot if you really want to apply this cycle. Take the DAT (21 and above) and submit you app no later than October. Try to squeeze dental shadowing hours in to around 100. If you do those, you might get some interview invites because your GPA is high. If I were you, i would wait till next cycle.
