Mostly, I just thought everyone should know how ridiculous some of these MCAT rules are and to be prepared for it.

During the test, I was stressed out, uncomfortable, and tired as it was rounding the last section.
I took my pony tail out because I just wanted to be somewhat comfortable. I didn't think anything of it.
The proctor came over and told me I needed to put my hair tie back in as it was against the rules.
My hair tie was a typical, thin black elastic band. Nothing special or large.

I recently received a letter form AAMC warning me about the removal of my hair tie and that they had ultimately decided not to take action against my score. Thank goodness!

I'm still upset this is a rule in the first place. What man made this up? No girl leaves her hair in the same position for 4+ hours.
If they are concerned with people cheating (with a hair tie i'm not too sure even how, maybe this rule was made in the time of scrunchies), I feel like they should provide hair ties that the site gives out.

I understand the taking off of your coat etc during testing, but a hair tie?

So all you ladies out there, be prepared to not move your hair once you get in there.

A girl at my test center was a retaker. She said that during her first administration, she kicked off one of her flip flops during the test to tuck her foot underneath her and adjust in her seat. A few seconds later, a proctor tapped her on the shoulder and told her to put her sandal back on. She said it completely broke her stride.

It's funny (and kind of sketchy) because she said her feet were COMPLETELY under the desk. So, if there ARE recording devices under there, perhaps it's not best to wear a skirt on test day! Guess I messed that one up!

Are you serious....???? That is absolutely bizarre. I screw around with my hair constantly when I'm nervous. That's crazy that they can disqualify you for that and that they even bothered to send you a letter about it. Wow.

I actually took my hair out during the test and was never told a thing... also it says be prepared to bring your ear plugs in a box etc etc unwrapped called the center and they were like no its fine we just inspect the ear plugs before hand. thank god because i was running out of my fav brand of ear plugs. :wideyed: But, i think it really depends on the testing center if someone is a stickler for rules. Though, yes be aware of the stupid rules and if you break one stupid stupid hair tie rule because you have to i.e. headache :bang: 2 h in .. you might be fine. but rus4choc is completely right

I took off my shoes and socks cause my feet get cold and so i wanted to warm them up under my buns. didn't get a warning, though, pretty weird.

I don't.

If the room ends goes from 60 degrees to 80 degrees, I'm taking off my coat. And sweater.

And if I were you, I would request a copy of the complaint to make sure it's accurate and not twisted or exaggerated. In the off chance that you had an unfair proctor, they might be able to review the video surveillance and note that you ONLY took out your pony tail.
