Dorky?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Another stockingstuffer: Custom bleaching trays along with a kit of home bleaching material. 😀

Speaking of which, are there any SDNers that can get the professional Crest Whitestrips at a great price, at their dental school? I'd like to buy some.

Hey, a student has to do what a student has to do...right? 🙄

I remember a halloween episode of the Simpsons where Bart and Lisa complain about Flanders giving them mini toothpaste for their trick-or-treating.

For future reference when you're a dentist: for halloween and for stocking stuffers give lots of candy full of sugar, along with your business card. What a great way to generate patients!!! (J/K)

Jaap,
You can get an excellent price on Crest Professional strength whitestrips through www.dentalresourcenet.com
You will have to register and sign up for a billing account, but once you do those things, you can make purchases online. I recently purchased the professional strength 6.5% hydrogen peroxide vs. 2 or 3% hydrogen peroxide in the regular store bought version). They also now offer Whitestrips Supreme which contain 14% hydrogen peroxide. I recently purchased a case (4 boxes) of whitestrips through Dental Resource Net for a mere $60.00 (free shipping and handling and no tax)!! Only $15 per box! This is special student pricing. When you place them in the cart, the regular price of $104 will appear, but as soon as go to checkout, the price will be reduced to $60. Also keep in mind that these contain even more peroxide that the store bought version, so it is an even better deal. Plus each box comes with a Crest spinbrush and a tube of toothpaste. I believe you can order a case (the smallest quanity you can order, which contains 4 boxes) of the Whitestrips Supreme for a mere $80. I love this website! I know there is a limit to the number of boxes you can order per year, but I don't remember the limit off hand.

You can get them on your own from Crest. The newest product are the Whitestrips Supremes, which are even better than the Professional version (less gel and 40% more bleaching power).

They are available (in boxes of 4) on the Crest professional website.

Of course, the downside is that you have to purchase 4 boxes. Perhaps you could get some other students to split the cost with you.

In any event, I'd try those over the professional brand. I *think* the professional brand will be sold OTC soon, to make room for the Supreme version, which is only available through dentists (like the professional line was).

This is interesting, because my pricing shows the original price as $124, and then shows it marked down to $80 in the checkout. It's the same $44 savings that you mentioned, but the initial and closing prices are still $20 higher.

Any ideas?

I just discovered that my pricing for the PROFESSIONAL Whitestrips are the same as ToothDoc mentioned -- $60 total, while the SUPREME line is $80 total.

So ToothDoc, are you sure you ordered the Supreme version?

Gavin,
I stated in my post that I orderd the professional (not the supreme). 🙂 My post was so damn long....I can see how you'd be confused!

I haven't tried these yet, but any detrimental effects on the enamel or dentin from using these? Sensitivity from demineralization? I don't know how these work.

Sorry, my fault. The above section is where I probably got confused!

I have some minor sensitivity when I use them, but it dissapates after 5-6 hours.

As far as their effectiveness, I think they are spectacular and I'm excited to use the Supreme version.

I typically go through the upper strips completely, then begin the lower strips. This allows me to compare a before/after. Doing this, the results ARE dramatic.

Sweet

I'm gonna give it a whirl the next time we have a whitestrips sale.
