It's a kind of shadowing. But your view of what the doctors do is very passive and limited to just surgery. You need to see how the doctors talk to and listen to their patients.

I think this is full fledged clinical experience. Not really shadowing.

Frankly I think shadowing is overrated. If you have clinical experience that puts you in direct contact with physicians, you have checked the box of knowing what you're getting yourself into, IMO
