I'm still trying the find people to write letters of reference for me. I contacted one of my former professors via email since he was out of town for the summer. Well, he emailed me back today and said that he'd be glad to do it. However, he asked me if I could send him some sort of dossier. This may be stupid question, but I honestly have no idea what a dossier is. What exactly does he want me to send him?

I have a Dossier on every man in this room

I'm not exactly sure what a dossier is either, but I would imagine he wants something like your PS, resume, maybe your primary app too.

good grief people, it's called a dictionary! 🙄

dossier
Pronunciation: 'dos-"yA, 'däs-; 'do-sE-"A, 'dä-
Function: noun
: a collection or file of documents on the same subject, esp. a complete file containing detailed information about a person or topic.

A dossier is something you should be handing to all of your LOR writers when you ask them for a letter. It goes without saying that they'll want to know as much as possible about you going into it, esp. if they don't know you that well...
