Kaplan book says that multiple bonds have priority when numbering. The book does indicate that double bonds have priority when numbering but it does not clearly state that double bonds have priority over triple bonds. I am thinking that its the double bonds that have priority over triple bonds but I am not sure. For example, if a compound has both a double and a triple bond then would the double bond get priority when numbering?

Thanks.

Carbon-Carbon triple bond has priority over couble bond. There's rule that says you should count triple bond as 3 individual C-C single bonds and double bond as 2 C-C bonds. According to this rule triple bond gets the priority. Correct me if I'm wrong!

for an enyne chain, numbering starts from the end nearer the first multiple bond, double or triple it doesn't matter.👍

This is for naming enynes, but for assigning priorities to different groups, yes, the triple bond has priority over the double bond.

When the fuctional groups are a double bond and a triple bond, the chain is numbered to get the lowest possible number in the name of the compound, regardless of which functional group gets the lower number.
This is important which wasnt said.
If there is a tie between a double bond and a triple bond, the double bond would get the lower number(higher priority)
In other words if the same low number is obtained in both directions, the chain is numbered in the direction that gives the double bond the higher priority.

Thats what I was thinking that in Kaplan book it says double bond gets priority but now I am learning something new that triple bond gets priority.
