doubt about usmle step 2 review courses and books

I would like to take the usmle step 2 review but I didnt know which one is better the intensive prep or medpass from kaplan or if it is better to buy the material and study by myself, if it is better and anyone has the material please advice me. Also I would like to know if it is true that If I take the step 2 before june 2004 I didnt have to take the csa. Thanks

As far as I know, for American grads if you graduate in 2005 or later, you have to take the CSA. No exceptions.
