does anyone have any insight into MCPHS-Worcester, MGH, and Marymount in DC? I’m stuck deciding between the 3 of them. I’m from Boston, however, the thought of moving to DC excites me. I feel MCPHS and MGH might be stronger programs. However, these programs are also about $30,000+ more. Is that investment worthwhile? Is Marymount still a reputable school? Thanks!

MGH is one of the few programs in the country to offer a full-time paid internship for the third year. You'd get anywhere between$18-$28 an hour during this time (from what I read at least.)

I got waitlisted to MGH and accepted to MCPHS. Both programs are amazing from my experiences there for interviews and open houses. They do have different curriculums as I’m sure you know. MGH’s curriculum really appealed to me but they said it is pretty fast paced as you have regions of the body packed into 4 week time frames. MCPHS has the more traditional curriculum model. MCPHS and MGH both have the pro bono clinics so that will be an amazing experience at either school. Both are great programs! It really comes down to where you feel comfortable, could see yourself living, and being able to handle the financial side of the program/cost of living in that area.

Ya, avoid MCPHS at all costs. Literally anywhere else is better. It's $52,000 a year and it is absolutely not worth it.

The price between MCPHS and MGH is actually very close. Nowhere on their site (MCPHS) did I see $52,000/year? Why are you saying avoid MCPHS?

He probably conflated the price of the Pharmacy Program with the price of the DPT program. The DPT at MCPHS is a little over $48k per year (summer, fall, spring.)

The costs are extremely close! With that being said, I ended up choosing MGH because the costs are already set for the duration of the program starting in June 2019 (although there could be some slight fluctuation in fees). MCPHS hasn't posted their 19/20 rates and every year they are expected to increase 3-5%. The published costs for 18/19 already exceed those of MGH. I like the curriculum design of MGH better and the opportunity to do a paid internship in the third year could help offset some costs. COL in Boston isn't cheap, but I think it will be worth it and hopefully come out in slightly less debt than at MCPHS.

I went there. It’s $52,000 a year without cost of living loans factored in. It’s also not a supportive program at all, the professors don’t really care about anything other than board pass rates.

You’ll also come out with confidence, which is extremely important, and something that was stripped from a lot of my classmates and myself during our time at MCPHS. MGH is a far better program.

Why do you feel like you weren’t as confident? Was it because you didn’t get to learn certain material? You didn’t feel supported by the faculty? If you could give more insight to your time there I would greatly appreciate it as I was strongly considering MCPHS. Did you just graduate from the program?

Send me a DM and I'll explain

MGH offered me a spot last year, I choose to go to a cheaper school after factoring cost of living in boston. Its a great school Ive talked to a few individuals who attend there.
