So this is my second round applying to programs, last year I was told by many that they wanted to see more experience. This year I am applying with an overall GPA of 3.45, a prerequisite GPA of 3.24 (I had a rough first year), and a major GPA of 3.68. My GRE is pretty weak 147v 152q and 5aw. If not accepted I do plan on tackling the GRE again. I have 400+ hours inpatient and 2000+ outpatient, none of the hours I had last time applying. In all honesty, what do you think my chances are? I've interviewed and I've been waitlisted and been told I'm high up on the waitlist but I still don't feel confident!

Since you've already applied and most people are getting decisions asking now what are you chances is irrelevant. If you don't get in take the GRE again and retake any prerequisite grades that aren't As.

Honestly the weakest part of your app is your GRE. Quite a few schools have a cut off of a 300. My GPAs were similar to yours but I had a 318 GRE with less observation hours and I've been accepted to 2/3 schools I interviewed at. So I would agree that if you don't get in- tackle that GRE again.

Thanks for the response! My GPA should be better, I have a 3.89 my last 60 credits! I studied my ass off but I have always struggled with the GRE which is why I applied to schools that don't require it. Nonetheless, I will be taking it again if I don't get in this cycle!

Consider taking the Kaplan Prep Course! I took it (the in person one) and completed all of the online homework and practice exams. It was so helpful and thats all the studying I did! Very comprehensive and to the point.

That's what I was planning on doing! Unfortunately I'll be having a pretty serious knee operation done in 2 weeks, so I won't be able to get around too much. However I was gonna do an online course prep instead since I won't be able to do anything for awhile! Hopefully that helps raise my score

If you don't get in this year, I recommend working on your pre req GPA. Retake the lowest grade classes first and retake as many as you (cheaply) can.

The good thing about PTCAS is that it shows a break down of all your grades and its the same way a DPT looks at it. So it definitely helps to see which courses look the worst so I can retake those first if needed. For me its BIO101 and Precalc, can you believe that?! But I got As in all upper level bio courses and physics courses lol

The brutal piece is that schools often don't care about your upper level grades UNLESS you get a specific course OK'd for substitution. I understand your predicament. I also had upper level courses which much better grades but I still go rejected my first time around. I had to go back to community college to retake the bottom level courses (including English 101 and Pscyh) too. My general rule of thumb is retake anything with a B- and below. And if you don't have a majority of A's, then retake a lot of the B courses too.

@starrsgirl, it's strange that the schools I have interviewed at have said my GPA is very competitive so I guess it's really not that big of a deal compared to my GRE scores. But if I am gonna have to reapply I might as well do everything in my power to make my application stronger

Hello. Yeah I would redo the gre. I just got into school with a PTCAS CGPA of 3.01. I did do fairly well on the gre though. I have similar hours as you. I think the key for me this year was that I redid my chemistry and physio classes that I didn't do well on over the summer.

Yeah I know my GRE is weak. I was even told by a director of physical therapy that there seems to be some disconnect between my GPA and GRE. I have been told my GPA is considered very competitive so I guess the take away is definitely retake the GRE if I don't get in and maybe retake a class or two if I cheaply can
