has anyone ever heard of the course offered by Dr. Sutton in houston?
apparently he has 100% success rate to get in to dental school?

Yeah it's not worth it! very expensive and you are all on your own, after you pay for the program you can bearly reach the director dr.sutton for any kind of help, its a waste of money and time not to mention your energy! you should just enroll in KAPLAN or some other more authentic prep-course. I am so dissappointed I wasted so much money, its a big scam really.
Kind of late of an answer lol

I know people who took dr sutton's prep course and did really bad on the mcat. I heard kaplan is not worth the money either.

****DO NOT TAKE THIS Class!!
I REPEAT AGAIN, ****DO NOT TAKE THIS Class, It's a big SCAM****
Dr. Sutton's class called MDI Initiative is a big SCAM! Not only he is pretty rude and he commented on my race and how the people who come from my country act, he is the most unprofessional, disrespectful, unreliable, and untrustworthy person I have ever worked with!
MDI is the worst prep course out there, only out to get your money! Stay away from Dr.Sutton and do not believe anything he has to say. He is very good at convincing students. After he has your money he is not concerned about you at all, and is looking for his next student to enroll. He told me once he is looking to turn his course into a bigger prep course like kaplan, well I hope MDI shuts down soon.
Everyone should report him to BBB (better business bureau)..if every single one of us does this then I will see how this class is gonna still run!!I think all students that took his course need to post here and save others from falling into his trap! I don't understand how his course is still running.
Everyone should report him to BBB (better business bureau).he did not even finish his residency and he cannot even PRACTICE!!! he lies to everyone about being busy at his imaginary clinic LOL..Imagine the moment he gets caught.!
You were absolutely right Dr. Sutton. WE DIDNT COME HERE TO LOOSE, but certainly YOU DID! 🙂))
everyone should report him to bbb (better business bureau)..if every single one of us does this then i will see how this class is gonna still run!!
Everyone should also talk to people in asda, pre-dental societies, or any program or club that is supporting him! They all need to be aware he is fake and the law enforcements will follow..he is still stealing ppl's money because nobody takes the initiative to do something about it! I believe his time has come, good bye dr. Sutton..oh wait.. Actually not practically a doctor..he did not even finish his residency and he cannot even practice!!! He lies to everyone about being busy at his imaginary clinic lol..imagine the moment he gets caught..oh he has so much explaining to do besides all he did i have heard a lot about him copying kaplan and destroyers materials..which i believe is illegal 🙂) he already is screwed..i dont know about you all but i am not letting him walk away with all these, i'll do what i can to put an end to this crap!!
You were absolutely right dr. Sutton. We didnt come here to loose, but certainly you did! 🙂))
Actually my friends and I are working on it. my advise to everyone is to avoid him and his classes.wow...these are some horrible stories..i hope you guys were able to get your money back or others who are not on sdn...
how come no one has filed a law suit against him and shut down his 'class'?
Actually my friends and I are working on it. my advise to everyone is to avoid him and his classes.
Do not trap into this scam. He does not put a white coat on you. He does not even have time to motivate you and he acts like he is in some sort of clinic or at some important meeting when you call him so you buy his very expensive scams.
All you have read about him here is true. I have been treated the same way and it is time for him to pay back. I wish I made a research on this forum before I waste my time, energy and money.
I hope others wont get into his trap
Wow. I am sorry for those people who got scammed. Is there any way they can get money back?
I just finished the PCAT course he offers, so maybe I can help with a few of y'alls issues.
He can be hard to get a hold of sometimes but I've never really had a long term like some of you are having. Persistence is key lol. He's a nice guy, but really busy. I loved all the tutors, especially the chem and math guy. The tutors have all already applied to their schools (dental, med, whichever) so they're a good reference material as well. I got all my books and such on time, classes were small (there were about 7 or 8 of us) and we all helped each other if we had problems. He has held workshops for our personal statements and applications, and is introducing me to a pharmacist to shadow.
Yes, I had to go to class AND study my butt off outside of class, but isn't it the same way in our college courses? You go to class to learn the material and you're expected to go home and study it before the test, right? Don't expect to just go to class and get a good score... Bottom line, if you put in a lot of effort (with or without the help of a prep course) you'll get the score you deserve.
Oh, and I got a 96. Couldn't have done it without his class, for sure.

Yes my studying was a big part of it but his tutors were great. He doesn't actually tutor much except bio and a bit of reading, there are other tutors for chem and math, or whatever is needed for the DAT/MCAT like physics or whatever. I don't think a study group would have worked as well for me just because I was lacking in the ochem section. I'm sorry y'all had bad experiences, but for me and the kids in his PCAT program he was pretty good about getting our stuff to us. And when we had a problem and couldn't reach him, we asked our tutor to tell him which fixed it pretty fast. Like I said, the PCAT class experience obviously was very different from yours.
Aren't you pre pharm ? Why are you on this discussion ? How did you get across this page ? Are you getting paid ?

I agree, also, why should he be hard to reach in the first place, and why should students have to be persistent with him. Students have enough stress of their exams they don't need to waste more time just to get a hold of him. I have so much built up anger towards him it is not even funny! But it was an experience for me, that there are a lot of untrustworthy people out there! Even if they wear a white coat and put up motivational videos on their websites. Denteeth87 how did you get your money back! I bet it's too late for me but I am still curious!

Let me first say that I am a graduate of Howard Dental If I were Dr. Sutton, I would find out who is writing the slandering and defaming comments and initiate a law suit against them.

Let me first say that I am a graduate of Howard Dental School and I would not have made it there without Dr. Sutton. I took a Kaplan course and didn't do as well on the DAT as I hoped. I am not blaming Kaplan, but I just felt the classes were too big and hard for me to focus. A friend of mine had taken MDI and told me to go speak to Dr. Sutton. When I went to him, I was a wreck like some pre-dental students are. I can say it now since I have already graduated dental school and my gpa is not important anymore, but my gpa at that time was barely a 3.0. I had literally given up hope. After talking with Dr. Sutton he was honest and told me that I would have to study hard, but anything is possible when you believe. There were 7 people in my DAT class and all seven of us got into dental school. Yes I got a recommendation letter from him and a few of my classmates did as well, but getting a letter is a privelage, not a condition of paying money to a course. If Dr. Sutton would not have written a letter for me, I would have looked more into why, rather than thinking he owed me a letter. As far a copyrighted material my books (DAT destroyer and Kaplan) came to my home, so if there was a copyright violation Amazon and Organoman must have been cooperating with MDI on this.
The writer that belittled themselves by saying the Pharmacy student was standing up for Dr. Sutton and MDI Prep for money should be ashamed. One writer posted that a Pharmacy student shouldn't have an opinion on a dental site, I would disagree because it's all relative to the class. I welcome anyone interested, to contact me at [email protected]. I can put you in contact with several other previous students, now practicing dentist who would disagree with the people with the negative comments. If I were Dr. Sutton, I would find out who is writing the slandering and defaming comments and initiate a law suit against them.
I guess if I had to agree with one thing, it would be that my classmates and I would call Dr. Sutton constantly and no he didn't answer every time, but when we really needed him he was there. The instructors we had were amazing and when Dr. Sutton taught he was amazing, so I see that no one has denied that fact.
How many CEO's at other prep companies will listen to you cry and complain, not one or two times, but many. Somebody actually wrote that Dr. Sutton needed to write them a recommendation letter because they paid for the course. I don't think any professor will write you a letter just because you paid for the course. And if you had this attitude during the course, I wouldn't have written them a letter either.
To all those who Dr. Sutton has helped, we need to stand up against these negative people and show them they don't speak for all of us.

I think concerns by students should be addressed from the top and transparency is the best. I will be the first to admit that while running MDI Prep I made some mistakes along the way and for that I apologize. These experiences have taught me how to better serve our students and deliver services that would help guarantee their admission to medical, dental and pharmacy school. I have read and listened to the suggestion made by those students that felt I did not hear or was unavailable for them. I realized that when I had 4 or 5 students, responding to calls was not that difficult, but when MDI Prep grew to over 200 students per year it made it more difficult for me to answer calls, teach classes and manage the business. For that I apologize as well. I have corrected that situation by hiring a Chief Operating Officer and great instructors, so I could be more accessible to my students. I will say that I have a fondness and respect for all of my students. If something was misunderstood, then I would definitely love to clarify that. I welcome anyone to voice their comments, concerns on our mdiprep blog page and I will personally see that they are resolved to the best of my ability. I am a proud graduate of UT Houston Medical School and was an interviewer with the office of admissions for over 5 years. I don’t and won’t claim to be something I am not. But above all, I am someone that really cares about each and every student that comes to me, that I meet on speaking tours, etc. Yes I was homeless in high school and yes my gpa was below the average for medical school acceptance and yes I was told that I could never go to medical school, but that’s what motivates me and drives me to helping students who may doubt themselves. What I am is someone committed to seeing students who didn’t think they had a chance of getting accepted into a program, finally see that they are more gifted then they thought. I do push you to believe in yourself and to work, but I promise that you will never hear Dr. Sutton not working for you. While I could say that over 300 of our students have gotten into medical, dental and pharmacy school since 2012, that does not make the few that didn’t get in feel any better. I will say that anyone who has ever taken our course and didn’t get in, and you attended classes on a regular bases, we invite you to come back and let us help you. There is no charge. Please feel free to call me directly and I will personally return your call within 24 hours, this has been relayed to all my staff as well. Good luck and GOD bless.
