Yeah it's not worth it! very expensive and you are all on your own, after you pay for the program you can bearly reach the director dr.sutton for any kind of help, its a waste of money and time not to mention your energy! you should just enroll in KAPLAN or some other more authentic prep-course. I am so dissappointed I wasted so much money, its a big scam really.

I know people who took dr sutton's prep course and did really bad on the mcat. I heard kaplan is not worth the money either.

I don't understand why people expect to do well just because they're taking a certain program. Everyone's scores depend on what you put into it. Some, more than others. But in the end, if you work hard, it will usually pay off. Just because you pay a hefty amount of a class doesn't guarantee that you will get an awesome grade if you don't give it your 100%.

*I'm not specifically talking to you but i hope people who read this in the future will get some insight*

I also agree.

No I completely agree, but the MDI program tries to set itself apart from other prep courses by stating how they help you with your personal statements and application process along with interviewing skills, and THAT is so not true! Dr.sutton says he cares about his students and wants to help when in realitly you have to leave him a million voice mails before he can get to you! and then you are delaying your application because he says approve it by him before submitting,.I did very well on my exam because I am determined and studied my butt off.. I just feel bad for all the students that get sucked into his program like I did..I pretty much paid all that amount onlly to do everything on my own, with no help on personal statements or application process.🙁'

people come to SDN to do research and we should help eachother out..thats all I am trying to do.

****DO NOT TAKE THIS Class!!

I REPEAT AGAIN, ****DO NOT TAKE THIS Class, It's a big SCAM****

Dr. Sutton's class called MDI Initiative is a big SCAM! Not only he is pretty rude and he commented on my race and how the people who come from my country act, he is the most unprofessional, disrespectful, unreliable, and untrustworthy person I have ever worked with!
He tells you all these things about how he is going to help you in every step of your application, statements, interviews and everything before you pay him! Well..here is how my story went..
Right after I paid him $1,500, the agreement was we meet the day after and go over my application and get me started in the class! Exactly the night after that payment went through, he stopped replying to my phone calls, text messages, voice mails, and he just vanished from this earth!! I finally started to get replies after 3 weeks, and had 4 set up appointments where I had to get off from work to meet him! I even called and texted him before my appointments to confirm and every time 15 minutes before our meeting time he would cancel, and I was already there!! He kept telling me that he is out of town and his flight got canceled!! 😡 He treats you like you are 16! I think time is the most valuable thing even for a 16 year old!!

I still kept being patient and polite even though he was very rude to me!! I called his secretary many times. A month has passed and I have not received a single meeting, all the books I was promised, Chad's videos subscription, or any application review, or the RECOMMENDATION LETTER HE PROMISES EVERYONE!! and basically nothing!!! 😡 Well I paid for nothing! so finally I got my refund through my family lawyer & I am glad I did! This classroom will be closed very soon!! Dishonesty wont get you very far in life!!
All these things happened in a middle of my DAT studying time! so if you really want that go ahead and take it! This man does not do anything for you, and all his promises are prior to your payment, right after you pay he disappears! You really do not need this to be successful, I did everything by myself and did amazing on my DAT! This program is a total scam! two other people that I know have gone through the same thing with him recently and ended up submitting their applications very late, lost their money, time and energy for absolutely nothing!

If you have any other questions about my experience I'd be glad to share with you!
Cheers!

MDI is the worst prep course out there, only out to get your money! Stay away from Dr.Sutton and do not believe anything he has to say. He is very good at convincing students. After he has your money he is not concerned about you at all, and is looking for his next student to enroll. He told me once he is looking to turn his course into a bigger prep course like kaplan, well I hope MDI shuts down soon.

Totally agree. When I was preparing for the DAT, a friend of mine suggested that we take
The class together. I didn't for financial reasons. And I'm glad I didn't. She is smarter than me and all she ended up with were 14's and 15's. According to her the class was a total waste of time and money.

Trying to get into dental/medical school but wonder if you can get in: Well wonder no more if you:
1. Are homeless,
2.Have a 0.55 GPA
3. Have tons of money to waste ... errrr I mean INVEST
Than you are the perfect fit for the MDI preP course!

We have distinctive instructors (ME 🙂 that came from unusual places
Why MDI?

1. Because our website says we have over 90% acceptance rate (INTO OUR PROGRAM, if you cant pay then its too bad for you)

2. We treat you like family (Hell yeah we do, we will treat you just like that uncle you cant stand, that will take your money and make you do slave work for him)

3. Classes sizes are small (yeah there ain't nobody there to help you when you are in need).

4. Interactive instruction, not strictly lecture based ( yeah its the new learn Method developed in Zimbabwe called DYAFT) Do it yourself and fail trying

5. Assistance with your application and personal statement. (and don't forget the letter of recommendation promised to all his students 🙂.

So if you fit any of these categories please don't hesitate to call us

And remember kids:

YOU DIDN'T COME HERE TO LOSE!

I think all students that took his course need to post here and save others from falling into his trap! I don't understand how his course is still running.

Everyone should report him to BBB (better business bureau)..if every single one of us does this then I will see how this class is gonna still run!!
Everyone should also talk to people in ASDA, pre-dental societies, or any program or club that is supporting him! They all need to be aware he is fake and the law enforcements will follow..he is still stealing ppl's money because nobody takes the initiative to do something about it! I believe his time has come, good bye Dr. Sutton..oh wait.. actually not practically a doctor..he did not even finish his residency and he cannot even PRACTICE!!! he lies to everyone about being busy at his imaginary clinic LOL..Imagine the moment he gets caught..oh he has so much explaining to do besides all he did I have heard a lot about him copying Kaplan and Destroyers materials..which I believe is illegal 🙂) He already is screwed..I dont know about you all but I am not letting him walk away with all these, I'll do what I can to put an end to this crap!!

You were absolutely right Dr. Sutton. WE DIDNT COME HERE TO LOOSE, but certainly YOU DID! 🙂))

It is hard to believe that someone want to scam the students. Students do not have much money to begin with, why would anyone try to take advantage of them. I guess the best thing would be is to buy study materials from the reputable companies, Kaplan , CrackDAT Destroyer and Achiever.

I took this course but for Mcat when I was going that route. It was helpful in learning what types of questions the MCAT will ask but as far as content he just tells you what to read and your own your own pretty much.

wow...these are some horrible stories..i hope you guys were able to get your money back or others who are not on sdn...

how come no one has filed a law suit against him and shut down his 'class'?

Actually my friends and I are working on it. my advise to everyone is to avoid him and his classes.
Do not trap into this scam. He does not put a white coat on you. He does not even have time to motivate you and he acts like he is in some sort of clinic or at some important meeting when you call him so you buy his very expensive scams.

All you have read about him here is true. I have been treated the same way and it is time for him to pay back. I wish I made a research on this forum before I waste my time, energy and money.

I hope others wont get into his trap

omg.. one of my friends was talking to me about doing his course for MCAT.. Thank god I saw this post! I'll tell him its one big fat scam! lol..

Wow. I am sorry for those people who got scammed. Is there any way they can get money back?

I wish I knew how we could get our money back, he does kind of help ( by giving you copied destroyer material), so I don't know how we could prove him wrong, and his classes are in session but they are just as if you are meeting with a few friends in a library to study. No format or organization. He didn't even give me a referral award of 200 when I referred a friend, which I have no idea why I did but I didn't know since he convinced me to convince my friend in our first meeting, before I could even learn about the class. I feel so guilty now of dragging my friend into it, we both lost $1500! 😡

I just finished the PCAT course he offers, so maybe I can help with a few of y'alls issues.

He can be hard to get a hold of sometimes but I've never really had a long term like some of you are having. Persistence is key lol. He's a nice guy, but really busy. I loved all the tutors, especially the chem and math guy. The tutors have all already applied to their schools (dental, med, whichever) so they're a good reference material as well. I got all my books and such on time, classes were small (there were about 7 or 8 of us) and we all helped each other if we had problems. He has held workshops for our personal statements and applications, and is introducing me to a pharmacist to shadow.

Yes, I had to go to class AND study my butt off outside of class, but isn't it the same way in our college courses? You go to class to learn the material and you're expected to go home and study it before the test, right? Don't expect to just go to class and get a good score... Bottom line, if you put in a lot of effort (with or without the help of a prep course) you'll get the score you deserve.

Oh, and I got a 96. Couldn't have done it without his class, for sure.

The studying part is not the issue, yes you always have to study on your own. I am upset about how much he lied to everyone. He clearly knows that students are DREAMING to be accepted to Dental/med/pharmacy schools, & that is when he makes statements such as "if you still do not get accepted to any schools, then we make some "calls" for you, our program is affiliated with dental schools such as Arizona dental schools and some others" and he is never ever too hard to get a hold of BEFORE you pay him, he responds within hours to your emails, but it is when the time truly comes to help students and live up to the promises he made, that is when he is gone, never to be seen or heard from again lol. He makes appointments with students that drive 45 minutes to his office only to find out his office is locked and he is not there. I am glad you got your score, as for me and many others it was a horrible experience.

Sorry but with your first post being here, and defending him. I will not take you as an "exception". Not questioning your scores, but I odnt believe that crook helps anyone intentionally. You get what you put in.
Have you stopped to think that perhaps you were the one that did all that, not him? and you could have done just as well w/o him. A study group is all it takes. Not all your monetary funds.

Yes my studying was a big part of it but his tutors were great. He doesn't actually tutor much except bio and a bit of reading, there are other tutors for chem and math, or whatever is needed for the DAT/MCAT like physics or whatever. I don't think a study group would have worked as well for me just because I was lacking in the ochem section. I'm sorry y'all had bad experiences, but for me and the kids in his PCAT program he was pretty good about getting our stuff to us. And when we had a problem and couldn't reach him, we asked our tutor to tell him which fixed it pretty fast. Like I said, the PCAT class experience obviously was very different from yours.

Aren't you pre pharm ? Why are you on this discussion ? How did you get across this page ? Are you getting paid ?

Clearly you have no idea about the value of time or money, if you did you would not defend a theft!! Also, between all the complains here & every where your vote doesnt even count, sorry. Tell him needs to fool more people & pay yall more so maybe you can fix his crap. I know that he makes a deal with students, he asked one of my friends to go to his office & asked him to pay more so he could write a letter, which was supposed to be included with the tuition, & he would not tell him this over the phone, so what deal did he make with you? Also you talk about him teaching you bio & reading..first of all the reading method he teaches for predents is wrong & doesnt even work, im glad I never followed that nonsense..one of my friends who followed that did pretty bad also he gives you a Mcat examcracker (which is also illegally copied) which is not even a good practice for DAT.

Also being nice has nothing to do with lying to people, So you expected him to slap you in the face every time you said hi?? Really depends on how you define niceness..if you yourself admit that he's "hard to reach" then im guessing he didnt respect your time either, now if you call that being nice, maybe you need to start by respecting yourself. Also in order to.prevent his class closing down he needs to be just a little good once.in a blue moon so ppl think we all are lying, but.im sorry you cant wipe out the majority with nonsense reviews for every 100 complains!!

I agree, also, why should he be hard to reach in the first place, and why should students have to be persistent with him. Students have enough stress of their exams they don't need to waste more time just to get a hold of him. I have so much built up anger towards him it is not even funny! But it was an experience for me, that there are a lot of untrustworthy people out there! Even if they wear a white coat and put up motivational videos on their websites. Denteeth87 how did you get your money back! I bet it's too late for me but I am still curious!

i was wondering...why do students in his class wear a white coat? you only are supposed to get one when you get accepted to dental/med/pharm program...at least thats what i thought

Through my lawyer who knew how to talk to my credit card company.
You need to contact BBB immediately and report him..the longer you wait the harder its gonna get, if you are not very busy any more act quickly! He knows students are busy with application, exam and stressed out, that's why nobody ever follows up with this, but better late than never!
Here is the link to report him, send them all your emails, text messages or a copy of your phone calls, every things that can help..he is not already listed here so you need to report MDI Prep Course as a new business. They take complains very seriously.

https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started

hope this helps.

Let me first say that I am a graduate of Howard Dental School and I would not have made it there without Dr. Sutton. I took a Kaplan course and didn't do as well on the DAT as I hoped. I am not blaming Kaplan, but I just felt the classes were too big and hard for me to focus. A friend of mine had taken MDI and told me to go speak to Dr. Sutton. When I went to him, I was a wreck like some pre-dental students are. I can say it now since I have already graduated dental school and my gpa is not important anymore, but my gpa at that time was barely a 3.0. I had literally given up hope. After talking with Dr. Sutton he was honest and told me that I would have to study hard, but anything is possible when you believe. There were 7 people in my DAT class and all seven of us got into dental school. Yes I got a recommendation letter from him and a few of my classmates did as well, but getting a letter is a privelage, not a condition of paying money to a course. If Dr. Sutton would not have written a letter for me, I would have looked more into why, rather than thinking he owed me a letter. As far a copyrighted material my books (DAT destroyer and Kaplan) came to my home, so if there was a copyright violation Amazon and Organoman must have been cooperating with MDI on this.

The writer that belittled themselves by saying the Pharmacy student was standing up for Dr. Sutton and MDI Prep for money should be ashamed. One writer posted that a Pharmacy student shouldn't have an opinion on a dental site, I would disagree because it's all relative to the class. I welcome anyone interested, to contact me at [email protected]. I can put you in contact with several other previous students, now practicing dentist who would disagree with the people with the negative comments. If I were Dr. Sutton, I would find out who is writing the slandering and defaming comments and initiate a law suit against them.

I guess if I had to agree with one thing, it would be that my classmates and I would call Dr. Sutton constantly and no he didn't answer every time, but when we really needed him he was there. The instructors we had were amazing and when Dr. Sutton taught he was amazing, so I see that no one has denied that fact.

How many CEO's at other prep companies will listen to you cry and complain, not one or two times, but many. Somebody actually wrote that Dr. Sutton needed to write them a recommendation letter because they paid for the course. I don't think any professor will write you a letter just because you paid for the course. And if you had this attitude during the course, I wouldn't have written them a letter either.

To all those who Dr. Sutton has helped, we need to stand up against these negative people and show them they don't speak for all of us.

You can' file a law suit against someone for expressing their opinion. Dr.Sutton will have many law suits coming his way for false advertisement. Again, new and single post, you are probably Dr.Sutton yourself or one of the instructors.

Wow, what a detailed post by someone with no credibility - post count=1

haha yup, it has to be Dr.Sutton. Why would a "dentist" even care to come back find this post, make a new account and defend the course in so much detail.

Do you really think people are dumb Sweetdental13??

If you are a dentist, as you say, how come you just joined SDN 3 DAYS AGO?? LOL..how come you were never even here during your predental or dental schools years with the poor academic standing you have, and never felt the need to search for anything or gather any information that might have helped your acceptance??? and the only time you come here and care is to defend your sweet Dr. Sutton? Oh wait...Did he pick that name for you too? lol
Don't make a fool out of yourself please..everybody here is educated and has above average intelligence..so we all can see where you've come from!

First of all, you got into Howard, it's not like you got into UT, okay? Howard, accepts DAT scores of 17 too! one of my firends got in this year with an 18! You could have done that without his help too!
Also, this school has a preference for African American, and the reason he wrote you a letter is probably because you are from his race! Because he does not write that for any white people and he is very racist because he made a comment about my race and I have witness and evidence..Trust me, a law suit is coming his way, for discrimination, false advertisement, and racism...No one gets suied for leaving feedback about a business and helping others not to fall in a trap! If you really are a dentist you should know better..also he claims that he has connection with UT dental schools, but how come all of you all are getting into out of state schools??? and the schools with low Gpa and low DAT??? only 1 in 20 people, and once in a while get into UT or hard schools, and that's for their own hard work not because of this class!

Second of all, I know two people who were his instructors, and they both have complains too..Do you know why? oh yeah you are absolutely right, they are great teachers because they are really smart and hard working not because of Dr. Sutton..but did you know that he DOES NOT PAY THEM!!?? One of them ended up moving to Kaplan after getting into a fight with him about his income!!

So before you start defending, and I can tell why you are, cause it's a fake profile..but get your facts right first! Also even if you are telling the truth, I am guessing you took this class 5 years ago..but all these comments here and the stories we are telling are fairly new and for the PAST FEW MONTHS OR NOW!

You put on a good show but sorry it didnt go through..TRY HARDER NEXT TIME!!

Sutton has helped, we need to stand up against these negative people and show them they don't speak for all of us.
about your Howard Dental School:

based on guide to dental schools of past 3 years, they have a significant lower acceptance gpa and dat. so you can get in with a 2.9 and a 16 which means they take "other things" into special considerations rather than your academic performance, this happens for 60% of their seats ususally. "other things" means : your life story and your race. so I assume that he helped you with your life story that you probably didnt have and u got in. so congrats.

About Copy Right and initiate a law suit against us????

you think you are talking to a 17 year old?
he does share a scanned copy of all kaplan tests including MCAT and other companys such as pearson and others. Is there a chance that someone might show evidence to a lawyer? I would say there is a high chance.
I dont know what they teach in Howard about ethics but if you have passed your NBE you should know that usually the law suit initiates when there are physical evidence. so if your patients are unhappy with your service YOU ARE NOT THE ONE WHO SEEKS FOR THE LAWSUIT. maybe thats why Dr. Sutton still has no license to practice? he couldnt pass NBE lol.

about your comment "when we really needed him he was there. The instructors we had were amazing and when Dr. Sutton taught he was amazing, so I see that no one has denied that fact."

the truth is that he is not there at all and all his instructors are gone as well. you have to beg him on your knees so he can buy you a subscription. also he cancels so many meeting and his secretory only gives false hope so they keep you on your toes and stress you out. the funny thing is that all this happens after they get your money, untill then HE IS AVAILABLE AND MAKING PROMISES.

about your other comment "If Dr. Sutton would not have written a letter for me, I would have looked more into why, rather than thinking he owed me a letter."

I personally did this and the solution actually was to make a deal with him which I didnt.

about "How many CEO's at other prep companies will listen to you cry and complain, not one or two times, "

those ceo's actually founded an organized and disciplined institutions with 24/7 customer service. They dont lie and they value your time.

I think concerns by students should be addressed from the top and transparency is the best. I will be the first to admit that while running MDI Prep I made some mistakes along the way and for that I apologize. These experiences have taught me how to better serve our students and deliver services that would help guarantee their admission to medical, dental and pharmacy school. I have read and listened to the suggestion made by those students that felt I did not hear or was unavailable for them. I realized that when I had 4 or 5 students, responding to calls was not that difficult, but when MDI Prep grew to over 200 students per year it made it more difficult for me to answer calls, teach classes and manage the business. For that I apologize as well. I have corrected that situation by hiring a Chief Operating Officer and great instructors, so I could be more accessible to my students. I will say that I have a fondness and respect for all of my students. If something was misunderstood, then I would definitely love to clarify that. I welcome anyone to voice their comments, concerns on our mdiprep blog page and I will personally see that they are resolved to the best of my ability. I am a proud graduate of UT Houston Medical School and was an interviewer with the office of admissions for over 5 years. I don’t and won’t claim to be something I am not. But above all, I am someone that really cares about each and every student that comes to me, that I meet on speaking tours, etc. Yes I was homeless in high school and yes my gpa was below the average for medical school acceptance and yes I was told that I could never go to medical school, but that’s what motivates me and drives me to helping students who may doubt themselves. What I am is someone committed to seeing students who didn’t think they had a chance of getting accepted into a program, finally see that they are more gifted then they thought. I do push you to believe in yourself and to work, but I promise that you will never hear Dr. Sutton not working for you. While I could say that over 300 of our students have gotten into medical, dental and pharmacy school since 2012, that does not make the few that didn’t get in feel any better. I will say that anyone who has ever taken our course and didn’t get in, and you attended classes on a regular bases, we invite you to come back and let us help you. There is no charge. Please feel free to call me directly and I will personally return your call within 24 hours, this has been relayed to all my staff as well. Good luck and GOD bless.

I really do hope you keep your word this time. It truly seems that your miscommunication has angered a lot of people. Also, I don't know what you tell your students, but the one that posted up above (sweetdental13), had no ground in indirectly threatening people with a lawsuit, per her bolded part of the comment, "If I were Dr. Sutton, I would find out who is writing the slandering and defaming comments and initiate a law suit against them." We all have a right to free speech, and I haven't heard of your course until now, but were I in your shoes, I would probably clarify your stance on these defamatory comments and possibly clear up these alleged threats of lawsuits.

With that said, I wish you great success in your endeavors. You are teaching the best and the brightest and the future of our healthcare sector.

Dr. Sutton your course MDI is just a large study group that can even meet up at a school library without paying you so much. The reason I say this is when I attended his course , every time a student asked a question Dr Sutton would pick another student to answer it (probably because he couldn't answer it ). His course just goes over the basic elementary level biology. I would recommend anyone who is is in NJ or NY to take Dr. Romanos DAT BOOT CAMP! THE BEST COURSE EVER!!! and worth every single penny! and he is someone who TRULY cares for the students success!
